Azazel grew up as a member of angel society, being "just another angel" until they made the decision to depart to other lands. It was considered an unpopular choice by fellow angelkind, but Azazel didn't pay much mind to it. They were devoted to their pursuit of knowledge after living a rather solitary life in their old home.

In their travels, Azazel learned how to harness the dark arts despite being reprimanded by other angels for their curiosity on it, being forbidden in angel culture to learn of such magic. They are considered both an oddity and fearsome by other angels who later discovered they went through with learning it.

In the present, they've opted to settle in the Tri-West region of the world, developing a knack for journalism and exposé work. There, Azazel had slowly made a name for themselves as an outspoken progressive journalist that doesn't falter to threats. They work with a small group of other journalists, becoming the most well-known of the group and garnering the respect of many denizens over the years. Their notoriety grew enough to catch the eye of Tekonia's dictator, enraged by the slander brought to her territory by them. She personally issued a bounty on Azazel's head if spotted in the territory, forcing Azazel to lie low whenever they pursue further reports on Tekonia.
