NAME MEANING: She's named after the Atropa belladonna, more commonly known as deadly nightshade, a flower that is notorious for its use as poison.

About

Through observation, Belladonna became interested in human magic rites and rituals, and through experimenting with their swaying, bonfire-dancing and chanting herself, she found that it was relaxing and mood-altering in a way- kind of like really complicated, mostly-placebo meditation. Although as an Esprit, she possesses a very real and natural connection to the spirits of the dead and other ethereal entities, she has become steadily more absorbed in mimicking the rituals and practices of the human witches and fortune tellers that pass through the forest where she lives, and in time has even managed to sneak into their encampments and steal some of their artifacts. Even amongst the typically territorial and small-group-oriented Esprits, she has become a particularly unsettling and reclusive oddity, known to perform unorthodox 'magic rituals' which often involve arranging stones and sticks and bones in odd configurations throughout her neck of the woods. Although Belladonna regularly plays host to passing spirits and entities, she has no central sentient lyncpin around which to stabilize her personality, so between different levels of possession, she slips in and out of a nonverbal, feral state. This makes her incredibly difficult to predict, and basically impossible to reason with - an Esprit that is neither clearly bestial, nor clearly sentient. Sometimes, she paints extra symbols on her face and body with mud and animal blood, adding to her wild and unsettling appearance.

Interpersonal Connections [w/other OCs]:

Plumeria [self-appointed superior] - Belladonna would be PERFECTLY content to dance around in the woods with her animal bones and strange rituals for the rest of her days, but Plumeria refuses to leave her to her own devices. It's unclear if she thinks much of Plumeria [or much of anything at ALL, really], but she certainly complies with Plumeria's demands, and fulfills her requests to the best of her spacecase abilities.
Magnolia [best friend] - An apparent fellow outsider that Belladonna happened across in the woods one day. It's hard to nail down what Belladonna thinks of anyone, because she's inconsistently imbued by numerous spirits without a single lynchpin soul, but she seems to like Magnolia a great deal, and finds their multitude of eyes to be fascinating rather than repulsive. Belladonna likes to give hugs and gifts of bird bones and daisy chains to Magnolia, and although she doesn't conduct their friendship behind Plumeria's back in any DELIBERATE way, she seems to be in no hurry to tell Plumeria about it either.
