No-nonsense, maternal, well-spoken and exceedingly earnest. Miriam is a captivating public speaker who has turned her personal tragedy into a career of public service. As one of the major administrators of Faline's largest university, she believes she has the chops to operate the Order, and the ability to "restore public faith" in the Crown by placing a non-mage at the Order's head.

Her supporters would say that putting Miriam in charge of the Order would bring stability and control at a time of great distress and upheaval. Her detractors would say she's an anti-Mage lunatic hell-bent on snuffing magic out of existence.

History

Miriam's unremarkable life as an educator and scholastic administrator was turned upside down five years ago when the monster in Faline's harbor came tearing towards the campus where she worked. Though her beloved husband was among the many lives lost, Miriam took control during the crisis, and helped almost everyone on campus survive the attack.

After the attack, Miriam relocated to Namarast to more closely study the mage threat, and to aid in the administration of its colleges.  Miriam has since begun a controversial political career, drawing attention to the "lunacy" of allowing a mage like Sabora into the palace, and has undermined public trust in the King's ability to control the Order. She has personally surrendered Hidden Mages from her college to the Order, but now says that the Order's policies aren't enough; if Hagia herself could be corrupted, Miriam argues, then the time of Mage self-governance is long past.

Miriam was appointed as the Archon of the Order, the first non-mage leader the Order has had in over a century.  She will bring a new period of mage suppression with her as the Order's primary decisionmaker
