Mei

"Ah... what was your name again?"

An immortal guardian created by the World Serpent, Anima, to protect all of Empyr from the Void. She tends to express child-like enthusiasm and naivety uncharacteristic of her true age. She enjoys reading about the history of the world and its denizens. She is often met with curious gazes as she is the only living Draconian known to possess wings.

Mei was forbidden by Anima from interacting with the people she was meant to protect, and so she remains unfamiliar with Empyr's various customs. However, after the Creator's disappearance many years ago, Mei made contact with the Empyreans for the first time and her life changed radically henceforth. In fact, her name was given to her by a fellow Draconian and not the Creator—up to that point she was merely a nameless guardian fulfilling her duties beyond mortal gaze.

She has since joined the Ophidian Order, a mysterious organization that is more akin to a guild for Aspects, but its primary goal is to put an end to Animus, an unknown foe that only seeks Mei's destruction.

Mei is a curious and playful person. She is always willing to try new things, but she is reckless to a fault due to her impossibly high pain tolerance. She hates the thought of hurting others (even those who deserve it) and prefers to stay out of interpersonal conflicts, and so she is prone to indecisiveness and passivity.

She doesn't have many hobbies outside of her non-lucrative and time-consuming duties, but in her free time she can be found daydreaming or reading whatever books she comes across. Otherwise, she spends many of her days and nights searching for Void labyrinths and demons to destroy.

She also likes to read about the adventures of the guardians who came before her, even if it makes her a little bit jealous. Unlike her predecessors however, she actively avoids revealing her longevity and role to people unless it is absolutely necessary.

Mei suffers from poor memory (presumably due to her inability to sleep) and struggles most with remembering people's names, so she keeps a journal in order to not forget important events and people in her life. Her memory issues tend to alienate her and have led her to become accustomed to isolation.

Mei wields time-based magic, being able to encase entities and objects in cryogenic ice as well as freezing time within a certain physical radius. She can also alter enemies' perception of time and quicken the healing of wounds of both herself and her allies.

It's almost impossible for her to die: lethal strikes will heal almost immediately and she doesn't require sleep or food for sustenance. While her body has very potent regenerative properties, foreign objects may obstruct regeneration. Her mind is also not immune to the psychological effects of the Void.

• Her blood is teal-colored.
• Her arrow motif was inspired by the concept of the "arrow of time."
• She lies to others that her wings were a result of a genetic mutation.
• She is still able to consume food, but she actively avoids eating anything as it would be wasteful (and she hates the "process" that comes after).
• Her horn was broken in the first fight against Animus.
• Since she is physically incapable of sleeping, she has been conscious for her entire life rather than just 2/3rds.
