Cain is the result of Lady Trevelyan's affair with an elf. He was abandoned as an infant in an elven alienage and raised by a Lavellan that had left their clan. Though not a trained mage, when he was 18 he became possessed by a Spirit of Protection, who he lives harmoniously with. He is related to Inquisitor Trevelyan.
