Profile

Hex is a snarky, chaotic little shit of a character. He's a quick talker and generally pretty impulsive. He likes to act like he's  top stuff but in reality he is considered a runt by the rest of species  and is not held in high regard because of it. Might makes right in his  species hierarchy, and Hex is at the bottom of that totem pole. As a  result he is not particularly attached in terms of loyalty to the more  powerful of his species or their goals. In fact Hex likes to pretend  that he's not attached to anyone and would betray or use anyone he knows  given the right circumstances but this is not entirely true. While it  takes him a while to form a bond, Hex can become quite attached to  certain people especially when like himself they're a bit of an  underdog, willing to put himself in harms way or otherwise inconvenience  himself to help them.

Hex's most comfortable form is around the size of a house cat but he can shapeshift into forms ranging from the size of a mouse to a large dog  without much issue. The wound on Hex's chest is from an incident where  he screwed up an attempt to rebind a soul back to it's human body (He  thought it would be funny to bring the person back) and ended up binding  himself to the human at the same time, leading to a thin string of what  looks like light connecting the souls of their beings together as well  as visible chest scars on the both of them. For the time being if this string was to be severed or should either Hex or the person he's bond to die they would take the other with them, an issue they are trying to resolve.

Species info

Hex is what is referred to by the human world as a demon but would better be described as a being made of almost pure soul magic (Also known as raw magic). While most beings only possess a small amount of soul magic throughout their entire physical bodies which allows them tap into other refined forms of magic, Hex's kind are almost entirely made up of soul magic besides a small 'anchor' (usually an inanimate object infused with enough magic to appear in their own realm, or one that held significance to a now dead being that absolutely refused to let go). As a result of this, Hex's species are strong magic users especially  when compared to most other sentient life forms, able to perform complex, and often almost incomprehensible magic both involving the base properties of magic (life, death, and the manipulation of) as well as other flavours of magic to a lesser extent.

Hex’s kind are technically multidimensional, but cannot cross into or manipulate the regular world unless a pathway between the worlds is formed. In their own dimension they are formless in nature, generally just letting the magic orbit around their anchor. While in the human/physical world, the sheer amount of soul magic compresses down to give rise to a physical form that can interact with the world. Due to the nature of their bodies Hex's kind can shapeshift, although this limited by how much soul magic they can contain within their outer form. As they become smaller their outer shell becomes white from the soul magic compressing and thus shinning brighter, while the opposite is true when they grow larger. If they shapeshift too far in either extreme it can lead to them dissipating due to their soul magic becomes too spread out to be pulled back together or on the opposite end from the pressure of compressed soul magic crushing their anchor. They can also dissipate when their physical form is badly damaged and again is unable to hold the soul magic within them any longer, or if something breaks their anchor. New wounds glow a bright white and 'smoulder', which eventually fades to a regular colour as the rift heals.
