Riyu Yasunaga (安永 璃優 Yasunaga Riyu) is an original character set in the universe of the Shōjo☆Kageki Revue Starlight franchise. She is one of the elite students at Siegfeld Institute of Music with the title of "Frau Jade", which belonged to Shiori Yumeoji the previous year. Together with Moka Izumi, they form the "next generation" of edels filling in the space after Akira Yukishiro and Michiru Otori's retirement.

Riyu is a pale and petite girl. Her black hair is usually kept in two ponytails that hang slightly below her shoulders. Her long bangs frame purple eyes and a few freckles scattered across her face.

At school she wears a baggy black sweater over the standard Siegfeld uniform, along with black thighs covering her legs under the skirt. Her sweater has a patch with Siegfeld's logo sewn on the left sleeve, imitating the placement of the logo on the standard uniform's jacket.  

Often perceived as quiet and reserved, by nature Riyu tends to keep her distance from other people. Before joining the Edels, the only exception to this was Moka, though little by little she chose to open up to the other members of the student council as well.

Riyu tends to come across as rather rude, usually speaking to everyone she meets in the same informal way. She rarely uses others' surnames, too, instead opting to give people cute-sounding nicknames or simply using their given name and adding whatever honorific she deems necessary at the end. Beyond the use of honorifics, she places little to no importance in senior/junior dynamics. On top of all of this, she tends to be rather blunt and straightforward when expressing herself, which means she can sometimes be hurtful without meaning to. According to her, she used to try a lot harder to be nice and polite to everyone she met, but spent her whole life being told she was disrespectful no matter what she did, resulting in the way she acts today.

Though her straightforward nature tends to make her seem rude, it also often has Riyu casually compliment her peers. She is reserved about her own feelings, but very open about things she perceives as "facts", and thus will call the edels things like "beautiful" and "brilliant" without giving much thought to it, since to her it's the truth and nothing more.

She is also very perceptive, quick to notice and point out abnormalities in people's behavior, or small details that seem hard to spot. This skill makes her a helpful presence in practice, since she can point out mistakes and think of ways to fix them. It was Yachiyo noticing this about her that got Riyu scouted as an edel, despite her not having previously meant to apply for the position.

Although she puts up a front of indifference, Riyu is in fact a very caring person. This mainly shows through her relationships with Moka and Shiori, who she perceives as being bad at taking care of themselves. She regularly scolds them when she feels they're pushing themselves too hard, and is quick to agree to whatever they ask of her. Yachiyo, too, is often a target of her reprimands, due to her questionable sleeping habits. 

Above all else, Riyu is adamant about her dislike of "unnecessary" or "bothersome" things. When given an objective, she will look for the most efficient way to get to it, because she cannot stand the concept of putting in more effort than absolutely necessary. However, she is also willing to do pretty much anything if it means getting the results she wants, even if it's something she finds distasteful or unpleasant. If it's something someone else asked of her, this tends to involve multiple remarks about how bothersome she thinks it is. Despite this attitude, she almost never refuses her friends' requests, big or small.
