The Project AU: Before the machines rebelled, there were 5 scientists that worked feverishly under the reign of the chancellor. Their creations were used against their fellow man, much to their disgust. But one of the scientists, the original, warned the rest of their crew that bad times were soon to come when their creation (The BRAIN) was taken from them.
The group then brainstormed a means to counteract this event, and ended up coming up with a solution. Alchemy.
A friend of the scientist who had written many papers on the subject matter, collaborated with them through letters. And after much trial and error, a successful revelation brought forth a hope to the group. And it wasn't too long until the scientist got into contact with the rebels in order to establish a connection that would warrant their side a victory...to a degree...
The project was given to the rebels to oversee and aid with. As well as to make sure everything got through gov officials without their knowing. The scientist picked out friends and family, and told them to pick those who they desired to live when letters went out halfway through the war.
Near the end of the war, when the machines began to rebel, the dolls were sent out, and given a purpose, to restart the earth.
0's Soul Stone Thesis
0's father happened to be that same scientist who had written many papers on the concept of Alchemy and offered their help to the original scientist. His work revolved around the idea of transmutation and transfiguration. (Of course this is all fanon so I'm making up a lot of this shit.)
0 believes that with the right elements one can utilize the energy of a soul stone. Of course she doesn't just run around snatching soul stones, she in fact has a system.
Most stones used for her lesser creations or experiments, happen to come from beast, which are usually red or very dark. Due to the unstable nature of these stones, she often has to put them through a filtering process in order to make them more stable. This usually involves filtering certain elements from other soul stones to help with the process, usually done through extracting vapors or shards. Until they make a semi-stabilized version of a lost soul, these one's are usually blue or turquoise.
Whole soul stones, the rarest kind, happen to come from extracted spirits. Which are simply lost soul stones which have been possessed by the spirit of an individual. Should the spirit take to the stone and bond with it, 0 will be able to work more efficiently with the stone itself. The 'spirit' in question isn't exactly a whole person like most may come to think, instead the 'spirit' itself simply happens to be a memory of that person. An imprint of energy left on this world from their passing.
Of course even if they are nothing more than an entity with little to no conscious aside from the memory and emotions they left behind 0 is cautious to treat them with care. And oftentimes has her sister Angel aid in helping her coax spirits so then they won't fester into beast later on.
In short. Redish Stones = Beast | Blueish Stones = Lost Souls | Greenish Stone = Whole Souls
0's Beast Thesis
0 also happens to believe that beast are possessed vessels that which the 'spirits' of the deceased latch onto with their chaotic emotions and in turn spark a new life into meaning. She claims that in doing the work she does that she is helping keep those spirits from returning to the fields to wreck havoc once more.
Main Four Elements Basis
As far as harnessing the elements go, 0 has found that in digging into one's inner self that they'll find themselves connected closely to a main element. For 0's, hers happens to be wind, while Angel's is earth. Of course one is capable of favoring more than one element, but as it stands 0 has yet to find someone closely relating to two at the same time.
