Backstory

Vitimari Embrum was made to be a soldier. Literally, she was created as a fully fledged adult, rather than born. She spent the first years of her life in the Nine Hells, being put through rigorous training. Once she was deemed ready, she was put into a legion under Aceras and one of his seconds, Mayahk Cinderwick. She was bound to her legion through a series of orange tattoos called Vinculum, which allowed them to fight in perfect unison. Vitimari was an ideal soldier- she was strong and charismatic, good at following the orders of her higher ups, and never went below or beyond expectations.

On one of the expiditions outside the Nine Hells and into the Singularum, Vitimari encountered two cultists who had kidnapped and were planning to sacrifice an infant. Vitimari shouldn't have had any sympathy, since the baby was weak and weakness shouldn't be tolerated, but the idea of something so defenseless dying didn't sit well with her. She fought the cultists, managing to take care of them easily, and set off to return the infant home. That didn't work out too well, however- the infants parents were long dead. When trying to figure out what to do next, pain suddenly engulfed her entire body, her bindings to her legion becoming severed and leaving her weak and injured. Something had happened to Aceras, and when she went to look for her legion, they were gone.

No longer a soldier, Vitimari took to raising the rescued infant as her own. She named her adoptive son Revenn, and moved the two of them to a fairly peaceful town. Life was good for years- until Revenn came home with an old human man named Violet. Apparently, Revenn had nearly been kidnapped- once again by cultists- and Violet had saved his life. It was then Vitimari learned that her son was a Lost Cinder- reincarnations of the soldiers that the Inferno took into Hell with him in his fight against evil. Violet began training the mother-son duo- Vitimari become a paladin of the Inferno while Revenn simply learned to protect himself. However, when Violet learned that Vitimari was a Half Oni, he turned on her. Vitimari agreed to cut contact with her son so Violet would continue training him. Finding herself alone for the first time after the two left, she decided to take up adventuring, hoping to better the world.

Like all Half-Oni, Vitimari has the appearance of an attractive young adult. She's a large nby, tall and muscular, with sharp facial features and a usually stern expression. She has two simple and thick horns on top of her head, as well as two small tusks poking out of her mouth. Her eyes have yellow sclera and bright orange irises. She has warm white hair that falls to her shoulders, though she usually keeps it tied in a loose ponytail. She dresses in chainmail armour, in dark shades of blacks and grays. She always has at least one weapon on hand, but all her weapons are large and intimidating.

Class Features
  • Divine Sense 1st lvl

The presence of strong evil registers on your senses like a noxious odor, and powerful good rings like heavenly music in your ears. As an action, you can open your awareness to detect such forces. Until the end of your next turn, you know the location of any celestial, fiend, or undead within 60 feet of you that is not behind total cover. You know the type (celestial, fiend, or undead) of any being whose presence you sense, but not its identity (the vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich, for instance). Within the same radius, you also detect the presence of any place or object that has been consecrated or desecrated, as with the Hallow spell. You can use this feature a number of times equal to 1 + your Charisma modifier. When you finish a long rest, you regain all expended uses.

  • Lay on Hands 1st lvl

Your blessed touch can heal wounds. You have a pool of healing power that replenishes when you take a long rest. With that pool, you can restore a total number of hit points equal to your paladin level x 5. As an action, you can touch a creature and draw power from the pool to restore a number of hit points to that creature, up to the maximum amount remaining in your pool. Alternatively, you can expend 5 hit points from your pool of healing to cure the target of one disease or neutralize one poison affecting it. You can cure multiple diseases and neutralize multiple poisons with a single use of Lay on Hands, expending hit points separately for each one. This feature has no effect on undead and constructs.

  • Fighting Style: Great Weapon Fight 2nd lvl

When you roll a 1 or 2 on a damage die for an attack you make with a melee weapon that you are wielding with two hands, you can reroll the die and must use the new roll, even if the new roll is a 1 or a 2. The weapon must have the two-handed or versatile property for you to gain this benefit.

  • Divine Smite 2nd lvl

Starting at 2nd level, when you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can expend one spell slot to deal radiant damage to the target, in addition to the weapon's damage. The extra damage is 2d8 for a 1st-level spell slot, plus 1d8 for each spell level higher than 1st, to a maximum of 5d8. The damage increases by 1d8 if the target is an undead or a fiend, to a maximum of 6d8.

  • Divine Health 3rd lvl

By 3rd level, the divine magic flowing through you makes you immune to disease.

  • Channel Divinity 3rd lvl

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options. Champion Challenge. As a bonus action, you issue a challenge that compels other creatures to do battle with you. Each creature of your choice that you can see within 30 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, a creature can't willingly move more than 30 feet away from you. This effect ends on the creature if you are incapacitated or die or if the creature is more than 30 feet away from you. Turn the Tide. As a bonus action, you can bolster injured creatures with your Channel Divinity. Each creature of your choice that can hear you within 30 feet of you regains hit points equal to 1d6 + your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1) if it has no more than half of its hit points.

  • Harness Divine Power 3rd lvl

Also at 3rd level, you can expend a use of your Channel Divinity to fuel your spells. As a bonus action, you touch your holy symbol, utter a prayer, and regain one expended spell slot, the level of which can be no higher than half your proficiency bonus (rounded up). The number of times you can use this feature is based on the level you've reached in this class: 3rd level, once; 7th level, twice; and 15th level, thrice. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
