ROBYN ALICE VOGEL .
If the only thing that separates us is our blood, then why do you hate me?
Robyn Vogel is a Survey Corps soldier, who's story takes place in 846, a year between the Fall of Wall Maria arc and Trainee Corps arc in Attack on Titan. As her story takes place in a timeskip, she does not have much of a role within the main story. However, she was one of the first soldiers who made Erwin realize the harships of being a commander. By taking on this role, Robyn fueled part of Erwin's guilt in the Return to Shiganshina Arc.
Switching over to a more meta viewpoint, Robyn was the first original character I created back in around February of 2018. Her story, while not complete, has come a long way from what it once was. I look forward to writing more of her character and seeing her integrated in art, writing, and more!

PERSONALITY .
Robyn is often characterized in her story by her child-like mind. Her dreamy spirit often leads to much daydreaming and wandering off from conversations. However, Robyn doesn't mind. It helps her get away from stressful situations she is in and allows her to explore er creative and emotional side. Yet at the same time, it makes her socially awkward. It's always hard for her to find the right words to something, or to figure out when to join into a conversation. When she starts thinking about it, it's often that she won't stop. This has halted some of her relationships pre coma...but she's trying, so kudos to her.
MBTI / ENNEAGRAM BREAKDOWN .
Robyn is an INFP. Her dominant function in her cognitive stack is 'Fi' or introverted feeling. This is the function that has the user always thinking about and questioning their morals, ethics, and what should be right in the notion of their society. The main goal of a typical INFP is something along the lines of worldwide peace or understanding of the people around them, and Robyn is no exception to this. She strives to think about what is best, and what if she is doing is the 'right' thing to do. More important to her story, she also seeks out the ambitions and motivations of others and compares them to her own, constantly checking if people's values align. She finds it most frustrating when people cannot be read, or have conflicting viewpoints and actions.
Like most INFPs, Robyn is also a 4w5 on her Enneagram. This means that she is most concerned about expressing herself. From other's point of view, she is seen as a rather free, child-like spirit, and can sometimes come off as overemotional. However, this does not mean that Robyn is loud and blatant with her feelings. After all, there is an 'I' in INFP which stands for introvert, and she is most likely to express emotions through creative means such as her art or through conversations with friends. She also likes to keep some things only in her head. These tend to be subjects that she isn't sure how to express, such as feelings on people she doesn't understand and overall things she just doesn't have a strong opinion on.
STORY .
YOUTH / BACKSTORY
Robyn was born in a small town in southern Wall Rose. There, she was raised on a farm and taught by her family how to tend for animals. This grew until she had a love for them - even the ones that farm owners did not take care of, and made her want to be a veterinarian. However, she couldn't.The area she lived in was poor. The poverty meant no animals to take care of. Her parents warned that even if she was to open up a successful clinic, there would be barely any business, as no one had the money to take care of pets. In response, Robyn shifted her interest from caring for animals to humans.
By the age of 16, Robyn had enrolled in numerous medical programs around Wall Rose. While her free spirit often led her off track, she usually got good grades and was described as a hard worker in all of her classes, defined by her clear passion to help those in need. She passed all her classes and set off to find a job. However, her dreams collided with poor timing. In 845, the year where she graduated, the Fall of Wall Maria happened. It was a disaster that struck Robyn's entire family. Even though all of them lived in Wall Rose. so many refugees had flooded in and had taken what supplies they had left.
In 846, the scouts and the government launched a plan to 'retake' Wall Maria. They heavily promoted the expedition as humanity's first true challenge against the titans, and Robyn felt like it was her destiny to join. Half of it was because she wanted to test out her new nursing skills and see if she could get any position with a health label. The other half was because she was tired of living at her crowded house where all her family stayed. Who, speaking of, urged her to go because the government also advertised that they needed any and all hands on deck for this mission if it was to succeed. After signing up, she was transported to a nearby Survey Corps unit where she learned the basics of the 3DM gear and titans. A month passed after that, and all of the volunteers combined with the actual Survey Corps unit set out to reclaim Wall Maria. Whlie on the mission, Robyn smashed her head into a wall and fell into a month-long coma.
HER STORY, SIMPLIFIED
It is the winter of 846. After waking up from her coma, Robyn finds out that she has amnesia and must start her life over again. Erwin offers that she stay in the Survey Corps, as her entire family has reportedly died by starvation. She joined, but wished for a life outside of fighting.
As time went on, Robyn felt more frustrated with Erwin and Captain Levi. She found them near impossible to read or even understand the motivations of because of their calm nature. She also felt insecure because, though she had read the file on herself, it always felt as if Erwin knew more information on her pre-amnesia self than she did. It made the dynamic between the two more relient on power / the hierarchy of the Survey Corps, and it made Robyn think she was missing a key piece of Erwin to truly understand him.
Later on in her Survey Corps life, Robyn met Peter Becker. He was a straight forward man the same age she was, seeking to become a leader in the Survey Corps and change the (as he quotes it) terrible direction the unit is going on. He believed that the reason why the Survey Corps was failing was because of Erwin and Levi. He critiqued them by saying that they were not leaders, but monsters who were only in the Survey Corps for the sake of publicity. He often discussed with Robyn the deaths that the Survey Corps leaders have caused. This caused Robyn comfort, as she realized she was not the only one who thought the Survey Corps life wasn't ideal. The two eventually teamed up.
They formed a plan that would have them escape from the SC. It was basically to pretend to be MIA during an expedition, while in reality they were just running off to a more northern area where no titans were. After a few months had passed, they would go back inside the walls and then change their identities. The plan had been carried out successfully up until the step where they had gone off to go north. The duo made a pit stop south so that they could gather food to make it through the rest of the winter season.
However, they had gone so far south that they had reached the wall in which Eldians from the Marleyan internment zone were sent off to the main area of Paradis. Not knowing that the soldiers on top of the wall were dangerous, the two used their 3DM and went up to talk to them. Once they were identified as Edlians, Peter was turned into a titan and Robyn was used as bait. She fled quickly on her horse, but realized that she deserved this. She gave up on running away, and let Peter eat her.
DESIGN NOTES .
- Robyn generally has an angel face shaped skull. The only trait that's off is her lips, as they're thinner than the ideal that most people have.
- She prefers to have her hair down, but she keeps it up for when she's training.
- Her skin is always described as being 'milk-white' or pale. This is mostly because of her coma. When she was younger, her skin had more pigment.
- Her coma altered her weight. She's pretty thin, and her hands and feet are on the smaller side.
- When out of her Survey Corps outfit, Robyn prefers to wear feminine clothes. Mostly maxi dresses and pastel floral patterns. Her aesthetic consists of the same.
TRIVIA .
- Her design is based off what I thought Marie Dok (Nile's wife and a girl Erwin fell in love with in the canon story) would look like.
- Robyn was originally supposed to be blonde and have green eyes. However, I opted out because there are already way too many blondes in AOT.
- Her favorite food is pears that are on the sweet side.
- Her story is based off of Alice in Wonderland, hence her middle name.

Robyn's one and only friend when she's in the Survey Corps. Helps her to plan an escape and unintentionally kills her in his titan form.

Commander
Robyn's commander, and one person who she is most frustrated by. She tries to understand him, but it ends up with her hiding her frustration in her head whenever she tries to talk to him.
