Let there be light—God would have said, in many other stories of life and creation;
and while She is a Goddess herself, a Maker, a CREAtor... she isn't one who many finds favorable.
Instead, she says:

Let there be creatures filled with life, to be the source of my Entertainment

a closed species by nshr, formerly called Florarosas (2016)
*pronounced as gale-flur or ga-lee-flur

[ Terms of Service | FAQ | World (wip) ]

Introduction

*note: it's not necessary to follow the lore; it's more or less a general idea.

Born from within the hands of an unkind Goddess—CREA—like many of their brethren species, it was no question that they, too, sought to find a place of solace where there was no scramble in keeping their lives intact at every moment. A home where danger isn't running after their heels, fearing the day the meddling hands of their Creator would come to snuff out the flames they call life. With that little power they have within their hands, they managed to survive— but for how much longer?

Hope came in the form of LUXECRIES—fellow creations of CREA who held enough power to travel through worlds—as during one of their hasty operations led by Remiel and Uni, two Luxecries who manned the missions, they formed a Pact with the Head Galyfleurs' and guided majority of the population to T E R R A— earthlike planets.

Galyfleur Origin Forms were much more primal and feral in appearance than what they are today. Adapting to the worlds they were transported to thanks to the Pact, they blended in among the more modern day animals and mimicked what would essentially be their closest relatives—chickens. Due to this, many assumed they are some kind of forest creatures or guardians that mother nature spawned for they are able to use many kinds of magic—despite being far from it, in both origin and their original appearance. With this assumption, however, they came to use it as a disguise in their new host worlds; and as the future generations came and went, the new lines eventually came to believe the disguise as truth, and their skewed origin as myth.

(And perhaps—many of the elders thought, it's better to think it this way.)

(Few still pass down the knowledge of their origins through word of mouth, for one must never forget whence they came from.)

Dark past long gone with peace being found by most, what was once a dreary flock of birds became much more colorful and filled with life, personalities spreading out into an array of colors. Enjoy peace for as long as it lasts—a quiet saying that eventually became a sentence engraved within their being.

Many have a tendency to get distracted by daily on goings (bug? bug? worm ! !), and it's not rare to find a chook with a big appetite, snacking on many things both seeds and shiny. They are in tune with nature and can switch between their two main forms at will.

➤ Some Key Terms:

*Luxecries: a personal species of mine. Remiel and Uni are part of them, and they help transport fellow Luxecries and Galyfleurs to other worlds that are considered Safe.
*CREA: One of the Goddesses of my OC World and the Creator of Galyfleurs. She's cruel and tends to toy with her creations to entertain her boredom.
*TERRA: any and all earth-like planets similar to modern day Earth. (Not necessarily need to be modern day)

▍Traits & Appearance

  • As a note, there is no strict common/uncommon/rare/etc traits, only different kinds of traits a chook may have in variation.
  • Though of course, there are traits that are more common than others! (Think like different breeds and variations in appearance of chickens!)
  • I'd like to keep this species to be flexible, so simply be free to ask if there's anything that can be changed, modified or added, but basic traits must still be present.
(ie. kemonomimi ears, saddle feathers, tail, floating flower at the end of their tail and the hackles in their harpy form.)

General Appearance

  • Harpy form has thigh fluff, 3 scaley toe digits up front, one claw at the back and a spur that can be trimmed.
  • Human form has a vague texture of scales along their legs, which could spread in other parts of their body but it generally stays around the ankles.
Hackles

  • Harpy form's hackles will fluff up whenever they are threatened or in a fight as an intimidation factor.

  • There are times when a galyfleur doesn't have wings. (ie. birth defect, poachers, hunters... , plucking, etc.)

➤ Precursor Traits
*note: takeaways from their original iteration back in 2016. feel free to incorporate to your chook if you'd like !

➤ Avian Form & Life Cycle

  • Corresponds to the traits and markings of their humanoid form
  • Accessory usually found around their hackles/neck, but not necessary.

Life Cycle

egg > cursed chick form > adult form
they break out of their shell by using their ears as a saw (...)

▍"Home" Form

  • What they would have looked like if they had maintained close to their most original form.
  • Present Day Galyfleur's are rarely able to achieve this form, as for one it is a "previous evolution", and second they may require an Elder who knows how to turn into the form. They are able to transform into it still without the help, though it's often by an accident or when they are under stress/danger (usually as a mode of defense).

➤ Main Appearance

54170404_MrofoBfsbb2ALyy.png

  • Wings and arms fused to form Big Meaty Claws (tm), but they are smaller and more proportionate (usually ending at around their knees or lower thighs) compared to *Hunters (to be elaborated further below).
  • Normally may have black or white scelera depending on their original Harpy Form, though any shade of pink/red sceleras are Forbidden for it's a sign that they are a Hunter.

▍Hunters

*note: read with caution (?) it's not that bad but vague hand gestures

With the escape of the others comes those that were left behind. Driven to madness or with their sanity barely intact, CREA took advantage of this and corrupted them to become her own pawns, answering to her will and turning them against their own brethren. (Words echo—they left you behind. I'll help you bring them back  :) )

Hunters are known by their pink or red sceleras and a stigmata somewhere along their body that marks them as being directly influenced by CREA. She is able to see through their eyes and speak into their minds; much like an inner demon urging one to commit heinous crimes and cause chaos.

Most are Feral-like, though they are able to maintain some form of awareness that may eventually settle with less exposure from CREA. With heightened senses, they are good for tracking those that smell of their World... and to possibly bring them back, kicking and screaming before they, too, become one of the Hunters.

While majority are unwilling participants in CREA's 'game', there are few who willingly bore her stigmata and has retained their mind intact. Whether they may follow after CREA's agenda or have a goal of their own is part of the entertainment—as long as one is willing to help amuse her with petty or nonsensical plots, CREA could care less and is only here to watch.

There's a chance to block the stigmata's effects with the help of an Elder Galyfleur or a Head Galyfleur, but rarely are they able to "get back" the original personality and memories of the (now-former) Hunter. A block is only temporary, CREA may fight for control again if she wishes so.

Some are able to use Illusions temporarily to cover up their ragged up appearance into what a "normal" Galyfleur would look like to trick other Galyfleurs into befriending them before luring them away and dragging them back into CREA's domain.

➤ Main Appearance

54233425_zxOFFJ7pZmJY1aK.png

[image link]54234178_XwypHR0lxccd0wJ.png

  • Usually twice bigger than most Galyfleurs, even in their Home Form.
  • They bear giant paws with claws sharp enough to keep up with their namesake; "Hunter"
  • Their feathers tend to end in sharp shapes over the more rounded ones a non-hunter Galyfleur would have, but it's not a necessary detail.
  • Ears are usually ripped in bits, and are more leathery rather than feathery.
  • Their eye sclera must always be either pink or red, and must have a stigmata somewhere on their body. Their body could sometimes be decorated with cracks along the skin, usually stemming from the stigmata. A common place to find the stigmata is somewhere at the base of their neck. Some may bear more than one stigmatas.

➤ Avian Form54233434_fyVTOgqWYVq3hOb.png

  • Quadrupedal more or less; front wing-paws and thick clawed hind-legs, different to the stick legs a nonhunter would have.
  • Stigmata should be visible somewhere in their body.
  • Eyes are usually distorted, and their beak may be lined with teeth.
