Tsubaki's Links
Tsubaki's feelings towards Ikiru are something like protectiveness and a platonic possessiveness. Even though they seem rather detached and interested in being pampered, Tsubaki cares for Ikiru's wellbeing deeply. She's their (former) human, and they won't tolerate any real threats to her existence.
"I hope to be a master as satisfactory as my predecessor.
Though, this one is rather devious... he knows I can't resist that face."
Tsubaki likes Estelle, the main reason being that she completely smothers them with food and sweets and headpats. Estelle also doesn't chatter unnecessarily around them.
Though, they can see right through Estelle's cheery exterior and see the nefarious possessiveness, and does not trust her with Ikiru one bit.
"T-two Ikirus? This one lets me touch her, too! The fates are truly kind to me. It's nice to have such a handsome male model available at my whim! Though, I do wonder about what other connections she may have when I'm not looking..."
Tsubaki views Shuuka as a Hijiri clan member as well, despite her origin, and protects her from harm. Since she is so prone to danger, they have to work overtime in order to keep her safe.
"He feels comfortable and warm! Like a long-time friend, or the shrine, or my favorite food. I'm not sure why, though... we haven't spoken much! Since he can't talk, and all."
Law is quiet, considerate, and most importantly, a huge pushover, so Tsubaki is quite fond of him. Out of all the randos Shuuka drags home, Law is by far the most tolerable, though Tsubaki thinks his taste in crushes is questionable.
"Ah... I'm very sorry for the intrusion."
Tsubaki's feelings towards Ikiru are mixed. They unequivocally care for her well-being, and they think that if Nagi were alive he would be incredibly proud of his sister for bringing his dream to fruition. However, Tsubaki feels a sense of regret when it comes to Ikiru's inability to hold down long relationships and her alcoholism. It is apparent to Tsubaki that Ikiru does not /know/ how to be happy, but they do not know how to solve that problem, as a god with little understanding of the human psyche.
"Tsubaki is the closest thing I have to home at this point in my life. Always waiting, always faithful. Always making me feel like the scum of the earth for leaving when I've an assignment outside of Japan. While wearing such a nostalgic face, too, it's downright manipulative. But I'm also grateful - like this, I’ll never forget what ani-ue’s face looked like.”
