Silas grew up with his mother, step-father, and older sister, where he would help his father in the smithery. Though there were some nights he went hungry, he always had his family with him so he didn't mind it as much
This would change when he got hit by a lightning strike while out during a storm. Silas was told he was very lucky to only get away with terrible scars all over his body and a deafened left ear. Due to his injuries, he was out of commission for about a year, so he was unable to assist his father. Even worse was that his sister decided to elope with a stranger, thus leaving their house even more destitute. This did not change even after Silas recovered and went back to work.
Desperate to support his family, Silas scoured the entire town for odd jobs he could do. He filled up his hours with work until one day, a mysterious stranger sought him out and requested for him to deliver a dragon egg to the Temple, of all things. Because of Silas' financial position, he couldn't refuse as the stranger offered quite a sum of money, so he embarked on the long journey. He is currently disguised as a travelling worshipper going to the Temple in order to accomplish this task.

- Silas' disguise is the most expensive thing he has ever worn/had. He is thus very meticulous about keeping it nice and clean.
- Skin is very sensitive so wearing expensive silk garments instead of his usual scratchy ones are a blessing.
- Silas' short-term memory retention skills have suffered after the lightning strike. He keeps a small journal in his bag to keep notes on important things.
- Wears his birth father's engagement ring around his neck.
- Sleeps curled around his bag because the dragon egg radiates heat like nothing else.
