queen tiara is the oldest changeling queen alive by a significant margin - she's 1700 years older than the second youngest two, apatura and danaus. she's been around for most of equestria's history and quite simply sticks around just to see what happens next.

as the eldest, tiara is the voice everyone looks to, even on the council of queens. her opinion is the only one that matters. while tiara ensures the continued safety of her people, on smaller matters she's more likely to want to watch the world burn. being alive for way longer than everyone else tends to do that.

tiara's hive, the rosy maple hive, is (understandably) the largest. that means they get the pick of the places they want to live. she chooses to live near ponyville because it's interesting.

tiara is a dwarf changeling queen. this is just a quirk of genetics, although it does come with its own health problems that she's learned how to manage. she's about half a head taller than the average pony foal, which combined with her 'cute and fluffy' appearance has meant that folks she just barely met tend to briefly mistake her for an actual foal - up until they notice her lines, mature proportions, and excessive use of swear words. she absolutely hates this.

interestingly, tiara has a very distinct accent - roughly the equivalent to an old-timey southern accent. it's noticable when she speaks both the changeling language and equish.

tiara doesn't get attached to others very well. everyone she knew and loved when she was young has died, and she stubbornly refuses to, so it's not particularly important for her to make intense emotional relationships beyond when she needs to eat. perhaps the closest relationships she has are with danaus and apatura, and that's because she finds their thousand-year rivalry amusing.

the most consistant thing about tiara is her love of large drones. this has both a practical purpose and non-practical ones. large drones are much less likely to carry dwarfism, and she doesn't want to inflict her struggles on her children. plus, they can pick her up and let her sit on them so she can be tall. also she just thinks its hot.

tiara's pony disguise is pearl necklace, an old and eccentric tiny unicorn jeweler living in ponyville. pearl necklace gets a looks from those new to ponyville, but those who've lived there a while just accept this weird tiny pony who isn't around much.
