Corin was the first born of the Tempest family. He was a kind little boy that liked to live adventures playing with his younger sister, Fay, telling her that one day he'd be a great pirate, like in the stories his father told them. Even though his mother never approved any of it, Corin never let that get in the way of his dream.

He began to train and study day after day so he could grow strong and learn how to sail, and the results were gratifying. When he became 10 years old, his father gave him two daggers, handles carved with gold, something he had gotten from a great pirate he met when he was younger. Corin cherished the daggers and began training with them, always being watched by his little sister. When he was 17 years old, in a rainy day, Corin decided it was time for him to fulfill his dream. He didn't want to leave Fay behind, but he knew he couldn't bring her with him because she was only 8 years old. So before leaving he promised her he'd return one day and take her with him so they could sail the seas together, giving her the two daggers he got from his father so she could train like him and be ready for his return. He wrapped the blue bandana he used to wear around his neck on one of the daggers' handle so Fay could always remember him and his promise. Off into the sea, Corin traveled through various countries and created his own crew, the Lazuli Pirates. Thanks to his training, he became a strong leader with a heart of gold, always helping those in need. Due to his accomplishments and abilities, he received the name "Azure Tornado".

9 years later, when Corin was 26 years old, him and his crew arrived at the country of Dressrosa. They decided to stay for a few days to gather resources, but the aura of the country seemed off to him. There, he met a Dressrosa's "king", Donquixote Doflamingo. Filled with disgust and anger, Corin decided he should do something about it, even knowing that Doflamingo wasn't a weak foe. Unfortunately, him and his crew's plan was discovered and they were taken hostage. Corin, reluctantly, made a "deal" with Doflamingo - that he would let his crew go in exchange for his life, since he was the one that came up with their plan. The deal was accepted and the crew was set free ‐ although Doflamingo would not keep his part of the bargain. But before having his sentence executed, Corin introduced himself with his full name, Tempest Corin, and said that one day someone would come to Dressrosa and free the people from Doflamingo's claws. Corin died with tears falling from his eyes, asking his sister, Fay, for forgiveness for he would not be able to come back to take her sailing with him like he promised.
