Aenbalar was born in the Underdark within the Lolth driven community that praised women over men.

Unfortunately for Aenbalar, he was born a woman but felt as though it was not 'correct'. He was raised as the first born, the most precious of his mother's children, and in a dog eat dog world, he was taught to treat men as beneath them. Able to take any man or women beneath him, he was treated as the highest being in his noble house just beneath his mother. And yet even with the benefits of his birth sex it felt wrong. In his mind, being considered a woman wasn't right, and more and more he became yearning to become a man. But within the Lolth society it was considered almost a sin to feel as such since womanhood was considered the highest position.

Although forced to stand in as a woman, he did his best to become more masculine and male. Praised for his physical prowess compared to his more magical abilities he begged his mother to become the warlord of his house. His mother agreed that although it was not considered conventional his power should not be hidden away. Blessed by Lolth, he was allowed to forgo becoming a priestess (although he still had to learn all the religious rites and powers) and he trained to become a soldier and warlord. Although it was difficult to insert himself in male communities due to the power imbalance and Drow society in general, he did his best in order to become less of a woman and more of a man without crossing the ire of his mother or of Lolth. By doing so, he fell into the tropes of typical male drows in his city and became extremely toxic with his masculinity around other male drows to better fit in and be the 'cool guy'.

Leaving the Underdark

At around the age of 146, Aenbalar was out on patrol with a team of drow. He and his team was attacked by hook horrors. In the midst of the commotion, Aenbalar saw the attack as a blessing as he quietly slipped away from his patrol, having the hook horrors chase him down and faking his own death. He ventured away from the city and attempted to live in the Underdark and although it was hard at least he could live as his self. Thankfully, as he ventured the wilds of the Underdark he came face to face with a priestess of Eilistraee whom saved him from Lolth and took him to the surface to become a better person. 

He practically fell in love with the order of Eilistraee and begged them to allow him to become a priest so that he could go and save other Drow within the Underdark knowing the trauma and pain that he felt. As time went on, he learned more and more about the powers of his new goddess, and how he could be able to change his sex to that of a man and fit more comfortable in his body. Using her magicks, he became blessed by her power and shifted to that of a man, and became a true priest of Eilistraee. Eilistraee, seeing his dedication to her and to the people of the Drow, revealed herself to him during his dance and blessed him directly to free the Drow that worshipped Lolth by making his dance permanent. She bestowed upon him his new name: Aenbalar. 

Devotion to Eilistraee

Aenbalar created a community to help re-socialize Drow that have once been corrupted by Lolth. Slowly helping them become accustomed to the sun on the surface and teaching them how to survive in the new world. Every once in awhile, he'll go back to the Underdark to infiltrate the cities as hired help in order to find Drow that want to escape and helps them to break the chains of their slavery. Through this he is able to find peace from his past aggressions and live a new life without any fear of being who he is now.
