Harper was a magpie-Kenku. She was an experienced ranger who also was a bounty hunter. She was trained up by the Tiger's Claw guild, while her sister ran with worse crowds...
The task that took Harper away from home was her contract to kill her sister. She had broken laws with drugs and needed to be put down. Then Harper took the place of her sister in the group.
Harper spent a lot of time ruminating over her contract, but felt it was more important to uphold the law than family bonds. Though, there was often turmoil in her mind about this.
On the way back home, a strange creature called the Oracle met with them and offered Harper a bargain. The gift of flight in exchange of the memories of her sister. Still struggling with knowing if what she did was right, Harper decided to forgo the character growth of settling her feelings on the matter, she accepted the trade.
From there, she was not allowed to remember her sister, nor learn about her ever again.
