Four

Four is a former lab Rattata in search of identity and purpose. Unlike other Rattata she is capable of speech (albeit with a pronounced lisp because of her teeth).

Personality
Four is quiet, gentle, and agreeable. She doesn't like to talk about herself or her needs or wants. She's anxious around new people or Pokémon and is often quick to run away out of fear when she feels like she might be in danger. Despite her generally shy and quiet disposition, there are certain subjects that can really rile Four up and bring out a louder, more emotional side. She feels especially strong about how bad she considers life as a Pokémon to be, and will argue with anyone who envies her position.

History
Four was born in captivity and used as a laboratory Rattata. She was born with blue eyes instead of a Rattata's normal red, and possessed a more subdued personality compared to her siblings. As she grew she began to have very detailed dreams and flashes of memory of another life, the life of a girl named Katherine. Eventually she learned that Katherine is the deceased daughter of a disgraced scientist who once worked at the lab, Dr. Jonas. Convinced that she must be Katherine reborn, she painstakingly taught herself to speak so that she could communicate with the scientists and learn more about her past life. From one of the scientists she learned the truth: that Dr. Jonas wanted to bring Katherine back to life through cloning, and Four was his one and only attempt before he was discovered and removed from his post for his inhumane experiment. To the other scientists, Four is just a failed experiment. Four herself had no idea what to make of this revelation, and couldn't decide if that meant her memories as Katherine were fake or if Dr. Jonas had somehow succeeded. Through the cooperation of an assistant scientist she was able to sneak out of the lab and find Dr. Jonas to get the answer directly from him. When she met him he believed her to be Katherine and addressed her as such, though he did admit that he had done some terrible things to "bring her back," and apologized that she wasn't human anymore. Unfortunately this didn't bring Four the closure she wanted even after meeting him. Four returned to the lab for a time, but eventually left with help of the lab assistant in order to find an answer for herself.
