"I don't expect you to ever forgive me. But… this had to be done. I hope you understand why. If I didn't have to do this, I would have absolutely gone another way."

Taua is a rather stoic character who more often can be found guiding others, due to his leader qualities as the current city rep for his small Samoan village. He's more often found with a neutral face and being very reserved in terms of movements, but he'll occasionally crack a small smile if you get him really happy.

General Info

Taua is a statue in terms of personality. Not just a brick wall physically, but also emotionally. He does very little emoting, keeping it to a very minimum, but he keeps himself pleasant to talk to regardless. He doesn't want to be a nuisance, he just takes himself very seriously due to his work. He's very caring and puts other people first, in any situation he may end up in. Deep beneath the surface, though, is a kid that had to grow up too fast and longs to act out and be a kid again, in whatever way he can make that happen. His emotions really start to come through when he gets to show off that passion, like when he's fire knife dancing or kissing dudes.

General Backstory

Taua faced a lot of pressure to be a standout leader as a kid, due to everyone in his very massive family competing to be the potential next representative of their village, a title that is elected, but typically stays within the bloodline. Due to that pressure, Taua always wanted to stay far away from that line of work, opting to make something else of his life that wouldn't put a strain on his relationships with his siblings. He opted to take up fire knife dancing, a traditional Samoan dance that involves setting a specific knife on fire and spinning it around to put on a show. After years of experimenting with it growing up, he took his talents globally to mesmerize many stages and Polynesian festivals with his unique way of playing with fire.

As an adult, Taua made many a friend through his travels and overseas schooling. They helped him to let loose, exposing him to the party scene, pride parades, and a wider world that he'd never experienced back in Samoa. Despite the new wave of modern life being hit unto him, he always kept a little part of his culture with him, no matter what, so he'd never forget where he came from and what makes him so special. Regardless, while he'd been dating and dumping the people he's closest to, they all stayed friends through it all. Until recently, when he got a call from his father that his mother was falling ill and he needed to come back to Samoa for the funeral. He went, only to get trapped in when he was suddenly informed he had won the election and was the representative for his small village. His mother was perfectly fine, a bystander to the scheme, all of it was a ploy by his father to keep him hostage in Samoa. Now he has what he wanted to avoid, a strained relationship with most of his family, a position of power he never wanted, and being completely cut off from the people he cares about in America. Through the time he'd spent governing since, he lost his sense of joy and emotion, becoming a bit of a husk just to lead his people.

Misc. Info

Taua longs to live in America again, to be as free as when he was a child.

Taua has a whopping 8 siblings! He was the third born into the family.

Taua discovered he was gay when he first went overseas. He experimented a lot, but moving back to Samoa forced him to re-repress his freedom.

Off the Grid Chapter 5 Killer (Framed)

Off the Grid is a Danganronpa roleplay and is where Taua was used to completion. He started the game as a very stoic figure, little emotions shown and focusing on being the leader of the group to make sure nobody would go off the rails. As time progressed, he loosened up a bit, and his desire to live freely manifested in him developing a very sudden crush on a much younger Caraki Shirokara (real name Jurou Nanaki). Their relationship was like fire in a bottle, until they couldn't ignore the issues they presented to the relationship and had to break off. He learned a lot through both that and the ongoing game that took so many people, where he needed to find ways to keep himself sane no matter how much stress is on him, and that even the guy that let's people lean on his shoulder will eventually need to lean on someone else, too. He met a tragic end when he coordinated a plan to destroy the simulated dome they were in and purposefully obfuscate the details of a murder to make the constantly bent rules to be fully rendered null and void. He committed no crime, but was indicted for a murder that Jurou Nanaki committed, with full consent from the victim (named Barnaby) to commit the crime.

Design

Connor is 5'10, with a chunky but buff frame. He has the bulk of a dad bod with the strength of a CrossFit coach. Maybe not the stamina of one, though. Taua is a staggering 6'5, and has an insane amount of muscle. His muscles are just absolutely massive.

He has long, curly black hair, with one particular strand coming down in the front of his hair that is dubbed his "stress strand" due to him curling his finger around it when stressed. Otherwise, he dresses for comfort, with the low cut tank top and jeans. However, he wears it in a way specifically to signal to men that he is into men.

He doesn't have a lot of jewelry, only a red necklace, but he also has an arm tattoo done in a traditional Samoan style. After being in America, he grew out the hair on his face and body, sporting a very hairy body despite the chagrin of his immediate family and many native Samoans from his village.
