Sex: Female

Gender: Female

Rank: Howling Peaks Deputy (initially refused, until offered by Redstar), Howling Rebellion leader (former)

Youth: Oakkit and her brother Honeykit are born into the Circle of warriors reigning over the Howling Peaks. Their mother died during birth and the father, unable to bear with the loss, left the warriors behind in search of something that might give his life reason. He could not bear to look at his kits.

While tragic, both kits do not remember a mother’s touch other than the one of their adoptive parent, Amethystshine - a stern but genlte queen who has taken in kits before.

Oakkit is an absolute handful. She’s fierce, headstrong, brash and impulsive. She honors the Code with her entire being and worships their leader, Owlstar, dreaming of becoming her apprentice one day. Honeypaw is rather shy and incredibly thoughtful in nature. No matter their differences, the two of them are always stuck to each other’s side and share a bond of obsolete trust that is admired and envied alike by their clanmates.

Oakpaw gets apprenticed by Screeridge, a capable, levelheaded warrior often assigned missions that require patience and focus, something Owlstar hopes the young, impulsive apprentice will learn from him. Honeypaw on the other hand is given to Blackwind, the clan’s deputy and frontline warrior who is supposed to show the timid kit the strength that is hidden within.

The war between the warriors of Howling Peaks and the Mist Pack is at an all-time high, with near daily fallouts between the two and many kits being orphaned at a young age. Bringing an apprentice along for training becomes more dangerous than ever, and so it does not take long for a fatal incident to take place, that will affect the clan for a long time.

While being assigned to different groups due to their mentors contrasting skill sets, Honeypaw and the main force run into the Mistwalkers and are blindsided. Blackwind is slaughtered in front of Honeypaw and Zenithwhisper, the current Usurper, demands of his deputy, Springfang, to kill the captured Honepaw, as he would grow up to become a warrior, and thus a threat to their Pack. Unbeknown to Honeypaw, who pleads for his life in fear, Springfang has no way out of following Zeithwisper’s orders. She steps up and slashes his chest. Only a second too late, Owlstar tackles her to the ground, bringing with him reinforcement in the form of Screeridge’s squad. The Mistwalkers retreat into the fog and disappear from the battlefield.

Oakpaw is frozen, standing over her beloved brother, while he is still breathing but injured badly. Ironrumble (Healer) and Redpaw (Apprentice) step onto the scene and try to save Honeypaw, but in the end all Ironrumble can do is declare Honeypaw’s duty to the Clan be fulfilled. All eyes fall on Oakpaw. According to the clan’s code, the next of kin should have the honor of granting their beloved to join Starclan when their time has come.

Oakpaw stands there, as it had begun to rain and thunder above, the storm nothing compared to the conflicting forces in her heart. Her entire young life she has stuck and worshipped their code religiously. Honor and duty. Over and over had she recited the code before falling asleep, peeked in wonder at their seemingly immortal leader, their ferocious deputy standing strong next to her, black as the night.

But now they silently ask something of her that contradicts with her moral compass in a way she scolds herself shouldn’t.

“I am a warrior of the Howling Peaks.” She whispers as she steps up to her brothers side, “I will fight honorably, so that once my duty is done, I will join Starclan with no regrets.”

And yet, she knows that THIS she will regret.

Honeypaw lies before her, crying, pleading, screaming in panic, his gaze fixed on his terrified sister as she raises her paw, claws growing visible, rain soaking their fur and stinging in their eyes. Oakpaw is on the verge of a panic attack, her raised claws shaking violently in the stormy air.

“Release him, Oakpaw. He has served the clan honorably. Show him his way to Starclan and grant him peace.” Owlstar speaks calmly, secretly growing impatient with the scene that takes place in front of half the clan. There is no room for doubts when it comes to the code.

“I- I- I can’t… Owlstar… I can’t do it!”

Oakpaw cries as she slowly lowers her paw, shaking violently as tears stream down her cheeks and her chest heaves in absolute horror at herself. Owlstar appears behind her, graps her paw and ends Honeypaw’s life with it.

A part of Oakpaw shatters in that moment that she will never regain. Hoeypaw stares back at her with dead, empty eyes, while Owlstar sternly looks at the shivering Codebreaker. She screams for her brother, her claws sticky with his blood as she tries to rub it off. Redpaw, their close friend, cries silently and makes a move to approach the scene, but Ironrumble blocks his way with a giant paw, giving him a stern yet pitiful look. They return back to their territory, Ironrumble carrying Honeypaw’s cold body while Oakpaw is being supported by Redpaw, her face blank and void of emotion as reality settles in deep into her bones, cold as the winds o the Howling Peaks.
