Although a lot of his credentials check out, no one's entirely sure where Solan came from, as most of his living teachers and mentors cited in his resume claim they remember him being very perceptive, but apart from that can't remember much about him. All that's known for sure is that he's dedicated to his work, and that he can be a bit of an asshole. Alongside Agent Broadside, Solan helped develop the KDU's master computer and a multitude of the technologies available to the KDU, mostly involving his line of defense drones, and in particular six AIs designed to hijack popular variants of mass-produced, commercially-available military drones.
