Story

Soren is the second son of King Alden ─ the only with his wife, Queen Louise. Due to being the only legitimate child of the king, despite being younger than his half brother, he was declared Crown Prince of Daedian and heir of its throne throne right after birth.

For as long as he remembers, he has been thrown into the most ridiculous classes and situations, to 'raise him into a worthy king'... whatever that really means. Though, it's not to say that he failed any of them, far from it. He excelled in most of them, though he showed from a young age a tendency to not really have the personality a king usually has: perhaps a little... too soft for his father's liking.

Growing up, his family would travel for all kinds of events. It's where he met Genevieve, who then became a trusted childhood friend of his (even if their parents would often argue with each other due to differing views).

As he grew older, even more eyes were on him with step he took. It was admittedly overwhelming to be the center of attention of nobles and peasants alike, the kind of attention he never asked for: of the romantic type, of course.

He did, however, eventually fall for someone: daughter of count Lovell, Vivienne Lovell. As his first relationship, Soren was... hesitant, with everything ─ the fact Vivienne was all in on the 'dating the prince' thing didn't help, and with time, he realized that if this is how she's acting as a young noble, they were fundamentally incompatible.

And judging by her reaction to him voicing these concerns, he was right. Soren felt burned by this experience, and retreated off the dating world since, focusing on his ever-growing list of duties.

Soren can't quite point it out, but something in him made him long to be at least acknowledged by his father for his efforts in the past few years. Thus, he now routinely takes over things Alden sees as inconvenient. It doesn't seem to be helping their relationship, nor is it good for the prince's health, but he does feel like it's a good introduction to the admnistrative tasks he'll eventually have to take on himself as king.

Trivia

• He really enjoys reading about science. Especially the study of animals and plants.
• He can never chose a favorite tea flavor or what to drink on the day. He actually leaves it up to the castle staff.
• He has been burned by a past romantic relationship. He is currently fine talking about it, but is hesitant to even stand in the same as room as his ex.
• Often takes care of 'lesser affairs' that his father would usually nomitate some helper for. He hates it, but it's a start.

• People watching: He (un)intentionally notices a lot of tiny aspects in people's behaviors and words. It may bleed into overthinking territory.
• Public speaking: He doesn't particularly enjoy it, but he is good at it... or hiding his anxiousness, at least.

Relationships

King Alden Father

Soren's relationship with Alden is... shaky. Is not that his father hates him or anything, but he does favor his older son, and a bit too visibly for Soren's taste.

Still, they haven't been close for a while. And while Soren tries his best to be useful for his father, to his own detriment in a few instances, it doesn't seem to get significantly better no matter how hard he tries.

Queen Louise Mother

Soren takes a lot of his personality from his mother, and thus they are fairly close ─ and is not afraid of showing it.

As much as he hates to be a source of worry, he can't hide much from his mother. A part of him does appreciate her meticulousness, though.

Prince Blaine Older Half-brother

The fact their father seems to love him more doesn't seem to hinder their closeness at all. In fact, they both hate it, so it's kind of a bonding subject. They are but typical siblings ─ annoying each other almost every day, but when one doesn't, the other misses it dearly.

Dame Galatea Vassal

Upon taking a round guarding a room he was in, they've bumped into each other in a... not very conventional way. She has the utmost respect for him, not even out of obligation ─ he is the heir of the throne, after all.

Crown Princess Genevieve Friend

They have been friends for almost their entire lives, playing together while their parents were at each other's throats in negotiations. They exchange friendly letters very often, sparking the jealousy of many Daedian nobles, if only for the wrong, scandalous assumptions.
