Dreadnought

A young man who grew up isolated, locked away by his mother for his possession of "dark" magic. He later became a caretaker for his mother, after an unfortunate wish on his part led to her lower body becoming paralyzed. His only friend in childhood was a girl his age named Vera, who showed him kindness and tried to encourage him to loosen up. When a wandering paladin attacked him in a tavern, his magic flared out of his control, leading to the deaths of the paladin, Vera, and most of the other tavern patrons. He was sentenced to live burial, and later dug up by a wandering aasimar and her grandson. Upon meeting them, he chose the name Dreadnought, and was inducted into the Knights of Lakal.

Joining the Knights of Lakal, he was assigned to a team, and found close friends in the members. Even when the Knights of Lakal were scattered, their team stayed together, and set out to make the world right. Along the way, he found out he was the son of Bhaal, the god of Death. Following Bhaal's destruction, he took on the mantle to honor his father and restore Bhaal's reputation among the people.
