This one started out with Flight Rising, which is a dragon-breeding dress-up game sort of like Gaia. My friend was into the whole FR thing a lot more than I was, but I did enjoy making potential suitors to go with some of her boys -- in this case, Macario. I'm lazy, so for the time being I'm just going to copy stuff from Tumblr and FR.

Nur on FR

Meet Nur.

I blame @shadowdrac-rising for this. For all of it. I didn’t even own this dragon before she showed me one of her new boys. At least with Nemo and Akash I already owned Nemo and was having fun working on him. So when she showed me Akash it was just natural for me to think, “How would Nemo react?”

No. This time, I browsed the AH for over an hour until I found this boy. Wasn’t even convinced when I started that I was even going to buy anything. WELL, I DID. And I changed his tertiary to lace and renamed him. Wasn’t going to work on a bio at all. (Even Nemo just has a lorem ipsum layout.)

The original name was Phosphora, which, of course, made me think of light / glowing. I decided to stick with that theme when I changed his name to Nur, and Arabic name meaning “the light.”

I originally wanted a dragon with a white or cream-ish body, but I really took to this one. I did want to pull away from the cool color scheme, though. Besides, with a name like that, warm colors feel like a must. (I told myself that he must really like reds and warm colors, then realized that explains a lot.) I think that color contrast built up to the theme of his character: warm and cool; happy and sad; how he wants others to see him and how he sees himself.

I was looking at Nur, and all of this whole glowing fiery theme he has. Some small voice in the back of my head was like, “Shame he’s not fire flight instead.” Then, I started thinking.

If he was a fire dragon, he probably wouldn’t burn out so quickly. There wouldn’t be that contrast.

On the other hand, lightning flashes quickly. It’s bright, and hotter than the sun. Then, it’s gone.

It doesn’t stick around, and…

“Lightning never strikes the same place twice.”
