Backstory

Always interested in the world around him and how it worked, Chase's childhood was spent in and out of books, exploring and finding out as much as he possibly could. Though his family lived in a secluded area that made frequent travel to the nearby towns difficult, Chase would always pore over whatever books they were able to get on their infrequent visits, reading and rereading and rereading them all over again until they were able to head out once again. His world may have been small, but books were able to paint for him a picture of a much larger and much livelier place - one that he could very well live in one day.

When their village and the area surrounding it was destroyed, however, this comfortable routine and all that came with it shattered in an instant.

Chase's defense is Distance. From the stories he's heard of the mon that haunts his thoughts and memories, he knows that anyone close to him could be at risk, and he can't allow that. Thus, he's become a bit of a wanderer. He never stays in one place for more than a day or two before packing just enough supplies and heading off to wherever it is he seems to please. He's baseline pleasant with those who he meets in his travels, but he never lets anything get past that. Better to keep them away than to risk letting them get hurt again, after all.

Combat

Though he prides himself on his knowledge, his combat skills are somewhat lacking. He is able to hold his own in a fight for a short time, but a lack of experience and training take their toll on him quickly. This is especially the case when he utilizes the surprising depth of control he has over Aura, as this knowledge does not necessarily mean he has the energy needed to make use of it for long. Still, while not quite on par with a Lucario, his ability to sense others, and even form small objects from Aura, is beyond what one would expect from a mon like him. That element of surprise has helped him win a few fights that otherwise would have been incredibly one-sided, though his inability to maintain this energy expenditure has nearly led to serious injury on several occasions.

Abilities

In addition to his control over Aura, he's able to manipulate his Hidden Power to take on more of the aspects of water itself, rather than simply having the effectiveness of that type in combat. This drains his energy very quickly, so he's only able to use it for a short duration even at the best of times.

Interests

Chase will read any book he can find, even if he's read it time and time again. In addition, he loves listening to others tell stories and legends - each retelling has something new, even when the same mon tells the same story. And each mon has their own style of storytelling that makes them unique and interesting every time.
