About

A character created for the Lancer TTRPG's story campaign No Room For A Wallflower. Astrid is a Union auxiliary fresh out of training sent to a colony known as Evergreen on planet Hercynia for her first mission. She's a trained medic and focuses on helping the sick and injured however she can, but she's quick to turn a gun on anyone she deems a genuine threat to peace or Union as a whole. As for where she stands in regards to Unions major factions, she finds herself mostly aligned with the New Solidarity Coalition. Astrid comes from one of the core worlds and has known a life of peace, choosing to enlist due to a desire to grant others the same opportunities and lifestyle Union gave to her. They're an only child and close with their parents.

While typically sweet, bubbly, and a flirt she's quick to turn professional and almost pragmatic when things get serious, when someone crosses the point of no return in Astrid's eyes, she's more than willing to become the judge, jury, and executioner. There are very few lines she considers worth crossing to complete mission objectives but she still thinks that sometimes sacrifices are necessary for the greater good, and is more than willing to be one of those sacrifices herself. This however changes somewhat over the course of the wallflower campaign, as her teammate Gust leads her to rethink her stance on the importance of individual lives and how much suffering can be justified in the name of peace.

Often butts heads with Gust, another party member, but slowly begins to view him as a friend. She's put off by his mannerisms at times, and can be wary of him, but knows he has the capacity for good which leads her to occasionally lash out at him when he does things she doesn't approve of. Towards the end of campaign Gust is KIA, or at least Astrid was lead to believe so. Astrid is left heartbroken, moreso than they expected to be, and mourns him until their equally unexpected, and tearful, reunion. Also notable are her relationships with her other party members Mugnier and Haze. She considers Haze both an incredibly competent teammate, a good friend, and its company pleasant, they enjoy going drinking with it. Mugnier comes off as a bit of a mystery to her but she's very fond of him regardless. When the party gets split up midway through the campaign she often worries about Mugnier and Haze's wellbeing.

siegfried: He reminds her of gust in a few ways but siegfried is the easier of the two to deal with (sometimes at least.) Thinks he should join union if he wants to be a hero so much but given he already quit the military once she doubts she can convince it to join another similar organization. Notices his crush on her and thinks its cute, would probably reciprocate siegs feelings to some degree, and enjoys teasing him.

jack: recognizes that people like him are a result of tharsis' socioeconomic problems but still think he needs to be taken out given his violent tendencies and resistance to change. she wants to be sympathetic towards him and convince him to give up a life of crime but hes stubborn beyond reason and quick to lash out at her for trying. unfortunate given he's pretty cute.

elias: "Elias is a wonderful person! He gave up a life of nobility to live among people as equals." Astrid eats up all of elias' lies and likes him a lot. But.....she's a bit put off by how much he clearly enjoys fighting. It must just be her imagination though right?.....

priya: "priyas hot but she also terrifies me. She makes it sound like my love for union is romantic which is pretty weird.....The way she fights is nothing short of monstrous and I can't see how its due to love. Priya technically hasn't killed any innocents yet but I can't trust her at all. It's entirely possible I'll have to fight her one day no matter how scared the thought makes me"
