Laura’s father is currently on trial for an infamous series of murders stretching back 20 years.
publicly, she stands by her daddy, her sole parent ever since her mother left. social media, having already decided his guilt, speculates wildly on how his family may have been involved in his crimes. But Laura isn’t on trial. Yet.
in private, Laura is finally nearing the end of a desperate, deadly game. When she was 12, her father kidnapped her first and only friend. in Exchange for her friend’s life, Laura struck a bargain - she would be the perfect daughter. She still is.
but the game ends when her father goes to jail. As that prospect approaches rapidly, Laura just has to keep it together for the trial. Be perfect, for just a little bit longer. And then she’ll finally get to see the only person she’s ever really loved.

- Laura has severe epilepsy. Publicly, that’s why she uses a wheelchair. There’s a bit more to it though.
- she’s ambulatory, it’s just difficult and painful, and she’s very off balance

- fun fact/very obvious spoiler!!!! Her friend died like two days after the “deal” was struck. laura’s father has been lying to her this whole time for his amusement. i haven’t decided if the friend is actually murdered, or commits suicide in captivity. its gonna majorly f^ck her up when she finds out.
