Willow would always be the first to volunteer whenever the clan would ask for help. Need assistance with the rowdy kits? Willow is the perfect vixen for the job! Not enough food caught in the previous hunt? On the hunt she goes. Confidence surrounding her when viewed through the eyes of others. Thankful in the helpful and kind paws. The origin of this need to help, this constant urge to be the best, to be someone they can look up to was molded by her youth.

She may have been helpful as a kit but it was never as extreme as it is now. Following along when allowed, but also staying at the den if she so desired. Taking a day to relax as the wind ruffled her fur and the sound of her skulk-mates playing in the distance was common. Never thinking much would change around their home, much like her brother Jasper.

Unlike her brother she does not remember much of that day but rather the morning it began. A day like any other where her mother was just beginning her departure, with the kits in tow that had not already left for the hunt.

"Are you sure you want to stay?" Her mother coaxed with worry in her voice. They had all felt the effects of the heat and she only wanted to get them the water they so desperately needed.

"Yes mama, is so hoooot. I don't think I could make it all the way there." Batting away the close snout, "Jasper gets to stay." The youth's urge to be independent preventing her from savoring her unknowing last moments with her mother.

"As long as you both stay at the den I don't mind." Chuckling at her little kits action. Affection covering every ounce of her expression. The last thing of her mother Willow remembers. Watching as her mother and siblings entered the foliage never to return.

Even when rescued Willow was useless. Too weak to properly help Jasper get their savior the help they needed, or to hunt for herself. Having to rely on the help from the kind cats who took them in when they didn't have to. Forever grateful and in their debt no matter how much they say otherwise.

Deep down Willow is nothing but afraid. If she cannot be the protector, provider, or shoulder to lean on for someone who desperately needs it she fears the chance of losing them like her and Jasper lost their skulk. If she does not go and hunt there may be someone who goes hungry, and what if a kit gets hurt because there was no one to watch them? Willow would never forgive herself.
