Mercedes

Mercedes is a acting member of the Xolotl Corps, an organization headed by Death and comprised of individuals tasked with the delivery of souls to the afterlife. These individuals, or "psychopomps" are responsible for locating the departed in the mortal realm, accompanying them to the land of the dead, and protecting them from otherwordly hazards on the way down.

Mercedes takes her job seriously and views her work as necessary to preserving the cycle of life and death. To her, it's an inevitable occurance regardless of what a person was like in life. This, combined with her generally standoffish demeanor and intimidating appearance, might paint her as a cold or even cruel emmissary of doom- but this is not exactly the case. On the inside, Mercedes acknowledges that every soul she guides was once a person with a name and a story, and believes that learning to move on and accept the change that death brings is for that individual's good. She ultimately has the dead's best interests in mind,even though she may not show it.
