Athena

Twilight and Rainbow Dash used some alicorn magic to make Rainbow Dash pregnant with Twilight's foal. There was no gender-swapping to allow for this, it was just powerful magic! Rainbow Dash wasn't too keen on being the preggo one but it was the only way they could make the spell work. 9 months later, with a lot of powerful mood swings from Rainbow Dash, their little bundle of joy was born. A female Alicorn, however she had a birth defect as a side effect from the spell that caused her wings to be too small to function properly. They had the option to have the wings removed but Rainbow Dash vehemently opposed it.

Why did they name her Athena? Well months ago they were talking about names and Rainbow Dash was dead-set on 'Awesome' or '20% Cooler' while Twilight was wanting to name their daughter 'Celeste' after her mentor, Princess Celestia. Finally they agreed not to name their daughter any of those names and went to look up names. Twilight brought back a book filled with names of ancient gods and goddesses. She had pointed out Athena, which was the goddess of 'wisdom, courage, and strategic war'. The two hadn't agreed on a name yet. But when Athena was born Rainbow Dash looked at her daughter with eyes overwhelming with love and told Twilight she wanted to name her Athena.

Athena is more reserved like Twilight and has very little things in common with Rainbow Dash besides her multi-colored mane and competitive streak. She's not athletically competitive, but intellectually competitive. She can read, learn, and cast spells very quickly. She was the top in her class all years she attended school and is very serious about it. She is a serious pony in general. Athena is a perfectionist and can be strict with others. She hasn't yet learned the meaning of Friendship, since being in a castle for most of her life has sheltered her from outside forces.

She hasn't quite warmed up to even her mothers' friend's foals, even though they have come over to the castle on multiple occasions. But she does enjoy spending time with Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, and even Spike. Her relationship with her parents has always been good. But she had some difficulties with Rainbow Dash as a teen. Her uncouth ways and childish behavior made her wonder if Rainbow was even her mother. She also was distant from her because she thought Rainbow was disappointed that her wings didn't work. However after a heart to heart, crying, and hugs, Athena and Rainbow Dash's bond is closer than ever. She loves her mothers, and her siblings.

Even though she sometimes finds herself jealous of Skylight's wings, she adores her little brother and loves to hold him. She also tutors Star Bright in magic, and gets annoyed easily since Star Bright likes to slack off and gets distracted easily. But she adores her little sister, even if she is a pest sometimes.
