His military career came to an abrupt halt when a stray pulse grenade exploded, blinding Cas in both eyes, heavily scarring his face.
Unable to serve in the field any longer because of his injuries, Cas was discharged. As soon as he was well enough, he arranged to leave his home planet, and spent all his military earnings on expensive cybernetics- restoring his sight in his right eye.
Present
Cas made a living on a small space station in a fairly untouched, remote part of the universe. With a population no bigger than a large town, Cas quickly became integral to the community one of the port's only doctors. Attending to everything- no matter how large or small- Cas quickly built himself a favorable reputation, despite his rather irritable disposition.
He's currently working on a small, rather broken down ship he purchased- very slowly attempting to get it back into working order so he can move on to new space stations, new planets, and presumably better things.

- Cas carries himself with an air of importance and command. There's a general sense that he's used to being listened to and comfortable with giving orders, and not used to being ignored.
- His left eye is completely blind; anyone who approaches him on his left side without warning typically gets hit.
- He intends to replace his left eye with cybernetics when he has the spare credits to do so, but it's not terribly high on his list of priorities.
- His cybernetic eye twists like a camera lens as his sight shifts and focuses. The effect is subtle and minor as he's just looking around, but much more dramatic when he's focusing on something close to him.
- He won't turn away someone who needs help, despite his many threats, but he'll mutter and complain about it the whole time.
- His cybernetic eye emits light. It looks rad when he's in the dark, but it's bad for stealth.
- He doesn't fuck around with weapons. If he's pointing a pistol at someone he means business, and has the intention and resolve to use it.
- His insides are bright pink! He's an alien and he looks cool leave me alone.
- He prefers his rifle to his pistol.
- His bedside manner is. Bad.
