Hmm, after having read the artist's TOS, I'll admit I'm not all that confident with the idea that the design's owner wouldn't actually own the design, and would only own a 'license' to it; is that the agreement you signed when you bought them?
I think, by license, they mean it's like any other set of TOS when you own a character but the only difference (going off of what it said) is that if you break it (i.e. sell for a greater price than what you bought it with when it doesn't have anything extra) you'll face legal action. I didn't sign anything since I bought the character before that set of TOS was added (I'm pretty sure)
