Emitter Type Quirk
Sōma has the ability to influence other people's emotions, depending on the inflection and emotion of her own voice. As long as her target is able to hear her, she is able to control their mood, going as far as influencing their actions. The better she knows the target, the easier it is to influence them and she is able to specifically choose her target, therefore allowing her to avoid accidentally influencing bystanders. While she has the ability to influence multiple people at once, the more people she controls at once, the more energy is required.
When Sōma gets worked up over something, it becomes harder for her to control her quirk. She has to be very aware of her own emotions or they will accidentally influence others without meaning to.
This skill proves to be very useful in negotiation situations, which is why Sōma works closely with the Police Force as part of her job for the Hero Public Safety Commission.
Due to the changed physicality because of her quirk, Sōma also has an improved sense of hearing and sight.
Special Skill: Lullaby
- Sōma can put her target to sleep by singing them a lullaby. This is useful in situations when the target proves to be very hostile and is not open to any negotiation. However, this also uses a lot of her own energy, making her very tired after using this skill, which is why she only uses it sporadically.
Special Skill: Siren Song
- If she inflects her voice correctly, Sōma can not only influence a target's emotions but even control their actions, calling them towards her, for example. This also requires a huge amount of energy, and the control breaks off once the target makes eye-contact with her.
Sōma has a very calm and controlled demeanour, which can at least in part be attributed to her quirk. Especially when she is out in public, in a group, or around people she doesn't know very well, she is keenly aware of her own feelings and emotions, in order to avoid accidentally activating her quirk. Over time this has become pretty much second nature to Sōma so most of the time she isn't even really aware that she is doing it anymore.
Only in truly private settings, Sōma allows herself to drop this guard and show her, sometimes surprisingly bubbly, personality. While she obviously isn't the complete opposite of her "public" persona, she does appear more carefree and a bit more reckless.
Sōma likes things to be done precisely, causing her to occassionally take over other people's tasks because she believes she can do it better. She is somewhat of a workaholic, though she doesn't like to admit it - however, she doesn't shy away from being proud of her work and the position she has achieved due to her hard work. And while she does enjoy spending time with friends and social events, her main focus right now is definitely her work.
The only on who Sōma puts above work is her dog Hugo. He is a big mutt, who she immediately fell in love with while just scrolling through the shelter's instagram profile. She trusts his judgement in people more than her own.
The first few years of working at the HSPC were fairly normal for Sōma. Once she was asked to support the police force on occassion due to her fitting skillset, this changed quickly. Not only was she enlisted to help the police, she was also approached to join PROJECT NYX.
