"I like to do something. ... I just don't get into symbolic achievements."

"If the ability to tell right from wrong should have anything to do with the ability to think, then we must be able to 'demand' its exercise in every sane person no matter how erudite or ignorant."

About

Xenia, as her mother told her, was descended from the ancient chī, , or 'hornless dragons'. Xenia never knew how much to believe her mother's claims, but whatever her mother's ancestry, she acquired far more of it than of her father's equine genes.

Xenia is an MBTI ESTP and an Insights Discovery profile 22.

She is the Magic Instructor for all grades at Kennett High School.

Xenia grew up near Fort Kent, ME on her parent's farm.  She was an only child, and a bit of a surprise at that as her father had been deemed infertile by his doctors.

Her parents settled in far northern Maine to seek what refuge they could from the anti dragon sentiments that plagued them everywhere they traveled.  In the early 20th century they began a small farm growing mainly winter and spring grains and managed a modest life.  Shortly after Xenia was born they decided to specialize in just buckwheat to take advantage of other farms neglecting this grain and the persistent, albeit still somewhat niche, interest in it.

Xenia loved her parents and enjoyed helping on the farm, but where her parents were not especially endowed with magical abilities (or even interest), she overflowed with both interest and passion.

She spent much of her free time in the fields and forests near home exploring her magical abilities and what she could do, discovering new abilities and working to master what she had already discovered.  She had no guide or instruction, either from books or other magical sapients until she was in college, at which time she had skills and mastery which exceed those of her instructors, though her execution was scorned by many as wild, feral, and backward.

While initially hurt by the scorn and shunning by her peers that her magical practice provoked, she began to take pride in their scorn and rejection, seeing it as an affirmation (even if hateful) of her superior ability.  She was less arrogant than confident.

She graduated with honors in education, specializing in magical instruction.  While still in cap and gown at the graduation ceremonies she was approached by a stranger, nondescript save for being a serval, and congratulated on her success and graduation.  The stranger handed her a small slip of paper saying "Please take this invitation and token of my honor to congratulate you once more.  I trust I'll see you again, soon after reading this."

And she was gone, turned and immediately swallowed into the crowd.

She at first suspected one of her classmates had used a transfiguration spell to disguise themselves and this was all a joke, to embarrass her or whatever, she didn't care.  But, the paper, blank and seemingly non descript, whispered to her to keep it safe, so she tucked it away and only looked at it again later that evening at home.

The paper was clearly enchanted, and after some testing and investigation it revealed itself to her.  It was a beautiful invitation to the Tanzania Psychokinetic College.  She was stunned.  She had heard rumors of such schools while in her magic classes, but she didn't give them much thought.  However, if the rumors she heard were correct, these schools did not accept applicants, they scouted for talent and invited them personally.

The following six years Xenia studied, grew, and honed her abilities, learning from masters in psychokinesis that she didn't know existed.

At the age of 29 she returned home with opportunities for what to do with her abilities nearly limitless.  But, one night talking with her mother and father her mom suggested she teach others.  Magical instruction was just beginning to be introduced in some schools to help educate those without magical abilities about magic, and for those with abilities a basic education on how to understand, harness, and control them.  She reminded Xenia of her own struggles finding her own way alone, and of the rejection she experienced by those who judged her for her self-taught skills.

She thought on this for some time while taking some time enjoying being home and helping her parents again, and she came to love her mother's suggestion.

A year later she began as Instructor of Magic at Kennett High School in Jackson, NH.

Xenia is currently single with her eye on the new caracal Photography and Photojournalism teacher in the tech department.
