Profile

Wu Meiniang "Mei", born in 625AD, was prophesied to become the female ruler that would become what no other could be. Yuan was awoken from her stasis and trained for 20 years in preparation for the birth of Mei. She was first introduced to Yuan when she was 6 (Yuan was 26, but appeared 6) as a 'body guard'. Luckily, Mei was born in a rich family and was educated in all the usual fanfare (and then some secret studies from Yuan), including how to control her shapeshifting. She was able to also change her appearance to a much younger look but only in private. She declined to become a vampire when asked, despite Yuan offering many times. She became the concubine of Emperor Taizhong at age 13 and Li Zhi at age 27. Her first child was strangled on her orders by Yuan and the first wife of Li Zhi was framed and deposed. She gave birth to a son and requested Yuan kill her son via posioning. She retained the name Meiniang until she became Emperor, after which she given the name Zetian. Zetian is a title (like Her Royal Highness) given to a powerful Emperor and is considered to be part of the official 'name'. It lends both credence and legitimacy to her rule AND her legacy. Chinese scholars suggest that Wu was her family name and MeiNiang may have been her cognomen (official nickname) as a concubine/wife and it is very likely that her name was originally Wu Mei. At the age of 65,  Wu became Emperor of China and had three more children. She gave orders to kill and/or lock up people threatening her rule and appointed Yuan as chief of her secret police, whom all went underground during the years nad has evolved into the Qing Family 'business' (mafia). The secret police's first mandate was to spy and eliminate enemies however has expanded to an iron rule of China. Wu has the reputation of being extremely ruthless however holds a big soft spot for Yuan.

She was and still is the first and only female emperor of China thus fulfilling her prophecy.

notes: her scales and horns are ornamental rock that works as an armour (see below).
