{ About/Trivia }

Mir is an Esk of few appearances and fewer words.

  • Mir sheds petals when she's feeling heightened emotions.
  • Mir's coat is deceptively thick- it's only really visibly prevalent in her mane and tail.
  • Mir is about 10 feet tall (and far longer) and takes up the entirety of the trail when she's walking on it.
  • Interestingly, Mir's shed petals and flowers picked out of her fur are visible to the general populace (non-esks).
  • Mir's favorite season is winter.

Mir prefers to keep to herself in all respects and is a bit of a recluse, preferring to spend her days walking around her boundary. She's not rude, but she definitely makes it clear that she likes her alone time.

{ Backstory }

The north is cold and very unforgiving to those who don't know how to navigate it, but to natives, it's practically a cakewalk. Luckily, Mir was one of those natives with a grasp and a half of how to survive in the wilderness, and even more knowledge about the terrible effects of not being prepared enough. Even through harsh winter nights, her and her best friend would often take to the nearby trail to go and get the best view to look at the stars.

Mir had had a comfortable life in her town, but she always felt out of place. Something about the whole place was just off in a way she could never properly describe, and she never really felt a real connection with anyone other than her best friend; eventually, she lost even that. Having nothing and lost in despair, she fled to the cold, hoping that it would at least take her quickly. Instead, she woke up half-buried in the snow, four times as large, with a set of paws, shedding her friends' favorite flowers and plenty of tears.

In the beginning, Mir felt as though her second chance at life was far more like a curse. She had felt trapped in the place where she'd made her best memories, forced to bear the freezing cold that bit at her through her coat and the memories that haunted her as every flower petal hit the snow. Being an Esk wasn't necessarily the hard part, that adjustment came relativly easily, but Mir remained plagued with trauma and the newfound solitude certainly wasn't helping. Still, she now had all the time in the world to mull it over, and over the course of many seasons, Mir finally broke through her mental barriers and healed.

Nowadays, Mir is a well-adjusted Esk who likes to spend her time alone in solitude and silence. She has forgiven herself for the mistakes of her past and has grown excellently into her role as hiking trail. Though she's still riddled with anxiety and has a generally hard time talking to others, she is relatively content with her existence and definitely doesn't want to go back where all the painful memories lie. She prefers her hiking trail, thanks.

{ Boundary }

Well-trodden mountain trail and also the wilds immediately surrounding it. Mountain is home to a mixed-wood forest and the whole trail is dotted with Alpine Forget-Me-Nots.

{ Origin }

It was a long day. When you scream at your bestie, it tends to be. It was the thick of winter, and since there was an impending snowstorm, you were let out early. Mir stomped home, replaying the argument in her head over and over. There was no telling the things Mir’d say to her once she came face to face again; She wouldn’t be able to worm her way out of this one. Mir had no idea it would go so wrong.

Mir saw the note the minute she walked into her apartment; within minutes she was leading a search party of one, screaming her name into the thickening snow. Mir searched for hours, and she would have searched for more, but… she didn’t show, and Mir stopped looking…

Mir later learned that she tried to make her way back, that she heard Mir's voice, but she wasn't found until the snow had melted and her favorite jacket was found peeking through. Mir blamed herself and ran into the woods trying to get away from everything. Mir's world had shattered, because she had decided to give up. There were moments of running, screaming her name out of grief and disbelief. And then it was too cold, and Mir was shaking, and she tripped, and- what happened next led you to now.

{ Notes }

Design Notes:

  • Mir sheds flower petals everywhere all the time, so if she's in an image with a background extra flower petals on the floor are a very nice touch.
  • Mir doesn't have any flowers growing on the 'thinner' (less fluffy) parts of her coat, mainly her torso and legs.
  • Mir has a very simple design LOL so there's not actually all that much to put here.
