A steely man with good work ethic and an affinity for relaxing, but only once the job is done. He's the oldest of his group of friends and fluctuates between feeling like he's in good company and feeling like he's surrounded by children. He gets along cordially with Greyson and Shiloh, but isn't particularly fond of the wayward Connor who has recently wriggled his way in to Dominic's crowd of friends.
With very little tolerance for immaturity or foolishness, especially for those who should know better, Dominic can come off as gruff at best and stern at worst.
Trivia • Has SAD that he regularly manages with light therapy. In winter, when his symptoms peak, he goes to his therapist (who he's on good terms with and very much enjoys the company and counsel of). • His scar is from being glassed in the face by his sister Sandra, who was never convicted of assault. • Worked as a carpenter in his early twenties, and as such he's very handy with woodwork. If he needs things fixed around the house, he prefers to do it himself. He can also draft structures from scratch, and likes to design tables, stepping stools, and playsets among other things in his free time. • If he has a spare, Dominic enjoys "hiding" a dollar or two in plain sight for someone else to find. He'll tuck them between the beams of benches, hang them on door handles, or sometimes just drop them on the sidewalk. When he was a youngster he found a dollar someone dropped and it brought a smile to him; he aims to recreate the experience for others. • When feeling social he likes to barhop with his friends, but now and again he needs an evening to himself. On those nights he curls up on the couch, bowl of ice cream in hand, and binge-watches whatever comedy-drama catches his eye. That or he takes a bubblebath. • Loves to make bets with outlandish consequences for the loser. Mostly does this when he's drunk. • Can tell passable lies if they're simple, but if asked a question he struggles to sound authentic unless he's being truthful. • Rambles when he's tired. • Is very good at rhyming on the spot. Useful for rap battles and not much else. • You know you've messed up when Dominic starts calling you "son." • Is fiercely devoted to anyone who he considers family. • Actually likes oatmeal raisin cookies. • Babysits his nephew Carlisle so often that he's gathered a plethora of nicknames from him, the most esteemed of which is "Dada." • Wants to file for custody of his nephew because his sister is not responsible enough to raise a child, but hesitates for fear of the friction it would cause his family. He also has his doubts as to how good a guardian he would really be. • This doesn't mean he'll turn a blind eye to Carlisle's plight, however, and he frequently takes him to his home when his sister is too busy to notice or care. This is technically kidnapping. He is keenly aware and is appropriately careful. |
