Squill

A cat from the realm of the Trinity Tree, Squill, like many felines born beneath the life goddess's branches, grew up tending to the gardens and the tree itself. And they were good at it, certainly, but more than that, they were fascinated by them - Not merely the plants grown by the residents of the realm, or even the tree itself, but even the wild ones. How did they work? Could they have uses they could take advantage of? Could they be grown domestically and harvested? Squill would spend their days wandering around the area surrounding the tree, researching them as best they could, recording everything they could piece together about them, gathering seeds and samples.

But, tied to the tree as they were, there was only so much to be found, so much to learn.

And so, though they, like the other residents of the realm, mourned the loss of the great life goddess's tree (and, as they would come to learn, the tree of decay as well) in the fires that took the deities' lives, when the portals opened, they saw an opportunity. They'd lost their home already, after all. Why not head off into the other realms, and see what more they could find? There was nothing left to root them to this place, after all. Consider it a fresh start, so to speak. Like a pyrophyte's seeds scattering and growing anew from the flames.

And thus they came to Earth, and set to studying the plants of this world. Perhaps one day they would bring this new knowledge back to their old realm with them. For now, though, they were content to continue taking their research in new and exciting directions... and, perhaps best of all, some of their new companions were happy to hear them out, and even contribute themselves.
