When Veronica was a child, she was loved for her beautiful honey blonde hair and bright coral pink eyes. This changed when her quirk grew in and she began to get called a monster, however. People would call her a freak and bully her to the point she isolated herself.

In elementary school, this caused a social barrier, everyone deeming her too weird to connect to or talk to, or even to approach. She got used to being alone, and eventually started to enjoy the solitude.

In middle school, it continued. No one came near her, except to bully her or make fun of her, until the final year when a new kid transferred in and began standing up for her. Veronica didn't understand why, and got violent with him, shoving him into the lockers aas she screamed at him to leave her alone. He never did, instead seeming to defend her more. One day she dragged him to the school's pool and dove in, changing into her mer form. She asked if he understood, but he seemed more excited as he dove in after her, turning into a squid. He introduced himself as Sam once they were both dried off and human again.

In the beginning of high school, Sam and Veronica started dating. Everyone called them the perfect lovesick couple. It was all fun and sweet until Sam had to leave towards the middle of the their last year, giving Veronica a ruby with the promise of returning and coming back for her so she wouldn't have to be alone again.

A few years later, after dropping out of high school, Veronica became a villain, using her mer form to target and kill people who deserved to be killed like mass murderers, kidnappers, rapists, etc. One of the days she was escaping, she found a rather private stretch of beach and walked out of the water in her human form, completely dry, staring in shock at the Pro Hero, who stared at her in shock right back. After a bit of an awkward conversation, they went to a nearby cafe, the Hero being a gentleman and paying for everything, making Veronica feel nice and warm. He introduced himself as Umi, gave her his number, and slowly they began hanging out more and more until they began dating.

Veronica is married to Umi and is a stay-at-home wife, doing the cooking and cleaning around the house. When she sends her husband off to work, she goes onto her private laptop to start gathering information on who she'll kill that day.

She hides that she's a villain from her husband, and her friends, especially Hannah. She also does surprisingly well at hiding herself from any authoritive figures when she goes into her mer form tojust swim around, swimming deep enough that she won't get caught.

Veronica eventually stops being a villain, and just becomes a normal civilian. This is after she finds out that Umi, Hannah, and everyone she tried to hide from all know she's a villain and the panic of being abandoned by those she cares about sets in. She turns the files of everyone she'd killed over to Umi, and explains why she killed them, apologizing and begging him not to leave, surprised when he said he was never planning to.

She eventually apologizes, and ends up spending time in jail, though not a lot thanks to Umi helping her case by getting her a great lawyer, Athena Zurlou. Due to the lawyer, she was able to explain that she was trying to do her own sense of justice, and only needed to spend five years in jail.
