JARO

(Ya-r̃o)

If half the fun was to cut and run, and the other half was getting caught, then don't stop.

HOODWING
VESNA

Jaro lives a fairly secluded life on the outskirts of the sulfur flats, nearest to the water. while generally they keep to themselves, on rare occasions such as large events he will travel to the city to partake, the definition of a wallflower but gladly accepting anything free. Jaro primarily sustains on himself from fish that he catches on shore as well as the large greenhouse he considers his pride and joy. In it, they grow herbs they've collected and traded from the different tribes, using it as a bargaining tool when in need of supplies. Overall, Jaro is a well mannered hood who falls on the quieter side, keeping himself away from trouble.

VESNA

a light blue and yellow speckled egg shell glittered in the sunlight from the window. Having already been shattered, pieces lay strewn about the nest, and in the center of it cowered a small dragonet. as his parents peered above at him, his large eyes raced across  the room, attempting to take everything in, however, his attention snapped back towards the two larger dragons when low grumbles from them fell gently upon his ears. At the time he was not familiar with what it meant, but as he grew to be comfortable with his own wings, he'd become quite familiar with his very own name, Vesna.

Much to the dismay of his parents, the cowardice he exhibited as a hatchling did not last long. While fiercely loyal to his parents, Vesna would commonly get himself into a claw-full of trouble, whether it be knocking over a poor vendors display as he went by like a blue flash, or sneaking a few extra treats without his parents permission. Overall though, he was considered a good egg, always happy to help when asked and fully applying himself to his tasks, it was assumed he would eventually grow out of his rambunctious nature.

MAGDALÉNA

Vesna was well spoken and got along with many of his peers, but often would spend his time alone or with his family. It wasn't until he was at the market with his parents, when he'd meet Magdaléna, the daughter of their town's assigned guard. neither governing parties seemed bothered when their dragonets took a liking to each other, supportive of their blossoming friendship. Magdaléna, or as she would often be referred to as Magpie, was a sweet dragonet who unfortunately would get away with most things due to her father. She was quite aware of this as well, and used it to her advantage, all the while her father was blissfully ignorant. Vesna had quickly picked up on this fact, and often the two would be seen snickering amongst themselves only to run off in separate directions, later to meet up in an unknown spot to build their hoard.

Over the years, Vesna and Magpie became inseparable, and their parents had already discussed and agreed to allowing them to become betrothed when the time was right. The pair were very nearly adults, and while their families considered them to be outstanding citizens, in their spare time the two were far from that. Spearheaded by Magpie, the two had started by stealing away small things no one would notice was gone, years later they now took a more active role, knabbing trinkets of gold and crystal, always taking at least one thing every trip to the market, even if it was a mere apple. for them, it had become and addiction, enabling each other to continue. In their childhood hideaway, together they had amassed quite the stash of goodies.

HLÍDAT

Missing items were coming up at every corner of the market, all complaints falling upon Magpie's unfortunate father as tensions rose and a call to find the thief and hold them to justice was made by the vendors, wishing to be made whole again. The responsibility was on Hlídat, who was frantically investigating any possible leads the scorned vendors could provide. Most ended no where, with little to no evidence to build on. All the while, he felt that his relationship with his daughter had became strained, while on good terms it felt as though they were no longer as close as they had been, rarely seeing her during the day anymore. He somewhat blamed himself, with a serial thief on the loose perhaps he had been too busy with work to prioritize her. This theory fell flat however when he'd go out of his way to spend time with Magpie, only for her to vacate his presence in a rush. his little girl had never behaved this way before, and as a guard it seemed suspicious, but not for the reasons it should have been. For the moment, he decided resolving his daughters mysterious actions would be more important than sniffing out the towns thief.

Hlídat made it his mission that day to discover where she was spending her days, asking townsfolk if they had seen he and which way she had gone. it came as no surprise to him when learning she was with Vesna, the only time he didn't see them together was when Vesna was working with his family. Hot on the trail, Magpie wasn't as slick as she believed and tracks could be found in the sand leading to her shared hideout. Hlídat stalked towards the entrance, eyes narrowing as he sniffed the air. The scent of his daughter was obvious to him, but another familiar one mingled with it... Vesna. His brows furrowed a bit, confused why the two of them would be sneaking away from the village, though it wasn't unheard of for youngsters to make their own dens towards the edge of the village to get a sense of independence, and he assumed this was such. "Magpie?" he called out, crouching to fit in through the tight entrance unfit for older dragons, his ears flicked foreword at the sound of scrambling talons on rock and... metal? stepping into the opening, Hlídat was now in a small cavern, and two young dragons staring up at him with worried eyes and wide open wings. "Mag, Vesna, what are you two doing?" he asked in the tone of a town guard. He knew his own daughter wouldn't respond by the worry written on her face, so instead he set his focus on Vesna, the poor dragonet's snout scrunching when he noticed the guards gaze. Vesna's wings drooped, and Hlídat noticed the slight sparkle from behind the pair. His gaze hardened, marching towards them. as he was closer, he could now see above them, eyes widening in disbelief. the two nearly crumbled in his presence, slinking back and away from him with their heads low.

JARO

After discovering the town bandit and ensuring all stolen goods were returned to their respective owners, Hlídat requested to change his post to a different village, abandoning the responsibility of Vesna's punishment to a stranger. As far as the town was concerned, the poor dragonet was all to blame for the theft, Magdaléna's father having ensured she'd be without blame, and instead disciplining her away from public view. Vesna was trialed and found guilty, sentenced to 2 years in the detention facility, and 3 more of community service once released. In attempt to protect themselves and their families business, his family chose to publicly disown him, and while privately they made it clear they still loved and cared for him, the damage he had caused was irreparable. Just like that, his whole community had turned on him, and the one person he had hoped to turn to had vanished. Vesna never did see Magpie again, and after finishing his full sentence, fled the village that had abandoned him, assuming a new identity under the name Jaro.
