Mahiru is someone who's always headed somewhere, although seemingly not quite sure where her destination lies. Still, she stays positive, determined to reach it.
Travels by train a lot.
If you ask her where she's headed, she'll tell you she's looking for a friend who moved away, but won't elaborate much further. While always remaining polite, she does try to keep all manner of interaction with people short, so that she may continue on her way. It's clear this friend is very dear to her, and one can't help but hope the two find one another someday.
