Ghūl

Ghūl is, well, half ghūl. A ghūl is a creature from bedouin mythology, a type of spirit that resembles a person but then eats you and that is neigh unkillable unless you can take them down in one hit, as any hits after the first only heal them back and make them stronger. They're also insanely strong and stuff and roam graveyards, deserted places and the desert. And if you think ghūl sounds similar to ghoul then you're right, the ghoul is a later, more european itteration of the ghūl, where it gains its monstrous undead-ish iterations and is the stereotypical cannibal undead eating others (before zombies stole that trope). 

So yeah, Ghūl is half ghūl. He was raised around people but was always treated as a monster and an outcast. He was never given a name and simply got called a ghūl, so that's what he calls himself. Nowadays he distanced himself from his childhood and roams the desert, acting as a guide and guardian to those who must cross the desert. He keeps them safe from whatever monsters are out there, able to take them headon. He's not immortal but there are some immortal beings who he'd give a run for their money.  

He uses Ghūl as his name now, but he hides that it is what he is, pretending its a nickname. Since everyone thinks Ghūl is his nickname, they wonder what his real name could be. Nobody knows that, in reality, he has no real name. Just the "nickname" Ghūl, which will have to do.

He might be really spooky and dangerous but he is loyal and true to his word, he never betrays anyone. He isn't used to being close to people so when people try to get close to him he gets awkward, though he certainly enjoys company on cold desert nights. Hugs are awkward but he likes to chat and share stories and stuff. 

He eats mostly normal food, but certainly isn't above the occasional more tasteful "meal". Lets just say he's the guy to call when you gotta get rid of a body...
