(I got this character from adopts amino on May 6th 2018, and I forgot how much I loved her until now. I'll definitely do more with her! I had to dig around in my email for her haha)

I’m not entirely settled on her backstory, since I’ve revamped her completely, but what I’m operating under right now is

Layla was infected at an early age. In fact, she struggled to remember a time when she *wasn’t* infected. The magic of this world comes in many forms, but some were more… socially acceptable than others. Her family had high status due to their powerful and “pure” magic, passed down from generation to generation, getting stronger as it goes. This… disease, though, was far from virtuous. As such, her family was embarrassed to have someone infected with Abyssal Decay in their family, and would be even more embarrassed if people found out. So they sheltered her. They covered the point of infection, having her even use her own magic to add an extra layer of cover. She was kept mostly in one room, only ever leaving that room to eat. But, as an adult, she decided to run away from that room. She wants to explore the world, and be free for the first time. Nothing could stop her from achieving her goal.
