Acorn

Acorn was originally created for a Monarchies of Mau roleplay campaign. Unfortunately the game only lasted a few sessions, so recently I've decided to revive her for a Minecraft SMP a few friends and I have started. Called Everwood.

CW: Fighting/violence & near-death/expected death

(Monarchies of Mau) (quick sidenote, this is a heavy AU inspired by MoM but not really connected to any of the canon) Acorn grew up on her own in the wilderness, but she was never alone. At a young age Acorn taught vaerself to use vaer body and surroundings to defend herself. As the threat of the Unseen was constantly looming over vaer head. By the time she was a teen, vae had gotten quite good at it. Even catching the eye of a young Pipit. He was drawn to her skills (and admitly her looks), and they became fast friends. Eventually he persuaded vaer to join him in House Rex, the house he grew up in. Their training within House Rex only brought the two closer, and before they knew it sparks of romance started to form between them. Acorn was eager to serve the Monarchies and help make a positive change, and was glad she got to do it alongside Pipit. But soon things began to not add up with their quests. Vae started to take notes of everything she started to see, and the pile quickly grew. Eventually she strung everything up on vaer wall and was forced to realize the truth. Vae wasn’t helping bring change like she had hoped, but instead became a pawn in the House’s war for control over the Monarchies. Nothing was free from corruption. Acorn broke down. Pipit came and found her a few hours later. Vae confided and shared her findings with him, and told him vae’s planning to leave the Monarchies. Pipit took it all in and decided he would come with her. They packed their things, including an artifact Acorn had stolen from House Rex, and ran off. The House guards spotted them and chased them through the city. Just when they thought they were home free, the guards surrounded them. Acorn and Pipit did their best to fight for their freedom but the guards overpowered them. A sword pierced Pipit’s armor, stabbing him. Acorn cried out as a bright light emanated from the artifact. She tried to reach him but the light blinded vaer. In an instant everything was gone.

(Everwood) Slowly but surely, Acorn regained consciousness. She was deep within an unfamiliar forest. At first vae thought this meant they had made it, but then the memory of it all came crashing back. Vae quickly gathered up vaer things, in fear that the Monarchies were still after her. She ran as far as her exhausted legs would carry her, before realizing vae had no idea where vae was. As she began to set up a crude tent for the night, a strange feeling crept over her. Wherever this place was, the corruption and Unseen couldn’t reach vaer here. Things were hard without Pipit, but Acorn tried her best not to think about him or the mess she left behind. This new world brought many new challenges for vaer, but it also came with a sense of calm unlike anything Acorn had felt in years. One morning after a particularly rough storm, Acorn heard footsteps nearby. Vae had began to think she was the only one out here. The travelers appeared into view as flurries began falling gently on her head. They must have taken pity on vaer, because the next thing she knew she was backing up her things and following them home. Vae didn’t know what the future had in store for vaer, but vae had this feeling that as long as she stuck with them, everything would turn out fine.
