Alan

Overview 

Alan is a genderfluid Alien who is searching for refuge on earth since his own planet is in ruins after the leaders there became corrupted.  He's a sweet boy who only wants to live in peace and wishes for there to be no more war.

Backstory

Alan is an alien from a few galaxies away.  His species does not like water as it is almost nonexistent on their planet.  They dislike the feeling of it on their skin, and it interferes with their technology since their technology wasn't built to be 'waterproof'.  They have a sort of nectar that they create for food, and when they eat, they are good for like a week or so.  Sort of like a cactus, they keep the nutrients inside and have thicker skin than humans.  Even while looking like a human, his skin will feel almost tighter because of his literal thick skin.  The species doesn't really have a set gender and are more bi-gender with their anatomy.  They are more fluid with what anatomy they take, and it alternates like cycles.  So for a few weeks, Alan might be a female by human terms, and a few weeks he might be a male.  His species look very androgynous, so even through his technology, he is also in human terms, androgynous.  He identifies as male though because, from his research, humans are much more strict on genders, so he chose to go by male pronouns and also identify with a male name for his human identity.  He has no problem with being referred to as female or with they/them terms though. The species lays eggs to make kids, so Alan is without a belly button.  He uses a little device to create a force field of sorts that makes him appear human.  He also has a translator in his ear to translate things from human tongue to him and from his alien tongue into human tongue.

On Alan's home planet, war is raging.  It has been for a very long time.  Alan, who had been unwillingly put in their military, was to be sent alongside others to fight in said war, a mission that Alan knew was practically suicide.  He ends up stealing part of their governments technology to escape, but leaving behind his species as a result.  Many civilians are being starved by the lack of supplies, and the government is corrupt to the point that Alan thinks that staying won't help.

He chooses Earth as his destination as Earth is considered to be an underdeveloped planet by other species, and thus, the law is to keep it untouched until it catches up with them, as to not disturb the eco-system or bring in new politics to it that it is not quite ready for. The earth is also almost totally covered in water, which will keep him off the grid for the time being too, since his species dare not tread near that.  Alan is fully aware of these facts so he plans on doing whatever he can to keep his identity a secret, but he does not even get there, only getting within the solar system of earth before he is caught up in yet another war.  Alan's information was incorrect about earth, they are advanced enough to be in space.  And more yet, they are in their own war, with an alien species.  Alan gets swept up by a human named Rex though, a warrior from earth that saves Alan's life on a planet that he crashes on.... but Alan learns later this is only because Rex thinks he's human, thanks to Alan's technology that makes him appear so.  He learns quite quickly that Rex is extremely anti-alien, and now does his best to keep his identity as an alien a secret until Rex finishes his mission and delivers him back to earth.

Misc Facts

• Back on his home planet, it's very hot, and his species do not wear much clothing.  Accessories like bracelets, bangles, and stockings are a popular fashion statement, and if clothes are worn, it's very fashionable to have all of the articles match in color.  Because of this, whenever Alan comes to earth, he is very surprised to see the diversity in color that humans wear.  Also, they dye their hair and adorn themselves with metal poked through their skin, and decorate themselves with paintings inside their skin.  Alan thinks it's great, but doesn't want to adapt the style to himself, since he thinks that such colorful clothing looks bad on him and he prefers the single tones.  He becomes very interested in tracksuits since it's harder to find male-dominated clothes that matched completely.  One piece clothing like dresses interest him a lot since it's all one tone and easy to cover up, but he learned quite quickly that everybody identified him as a female after that, so he sticks mostly to the tracksuits.  Although sometimes I think he breaks his gender oath to himself and identifies as female to wear some cute dresses. 

I'd really like to rp Alan in a normal modern setting where he can come to earth and meet a human n be all dumb n inexperienced n shit like that.  Learn about human's first hand and try to blend in but also blow his cover as an alien ofc.
