Midas the sandwing had his jewelry cursed by an animus to slowly turn him into gold (although the spell wasn't thorough enough, and so the gold only covers him in patches where his jewelry sits). About ten years after the incident he found the animus again and had his sweet revenge. Another ten years passed and currently the skull of said animus sits on a shelf in his den. No one dares to touch it, lest they want to lose a talon. He now steers clear of any sort of new jewelry, avoiding all of the jewelry shops in the Scorpion Den.

Midas resides in the Scorpion Den, and is a decently powerful crime lord that rules a section of territory. Midas is an assassin that will kill any target for enough pay (except dragonets). He has a group of outcasts he recruited that work with him (Gravel, Mesa, Thrasher). He knows Shardscales and Ignis, and lets them find shelter in his territory after fleeing the nightwings. He recruits Mesa into his group after taking notice of his sharp senses when he dodged a runaway cart while nosing around the Scorpion Den.

May have romantic interest in Sparrow, but he'd never admit it.
