Meili Gokuu (美丽猿門 Gokuu Meili) is a young woman who works at Nanba Prison as a prison counselor and therapist. Meili, despite being a counselor, would occasionally work as an assistant to the Warden when she is free from her work. She also happens to be the wife of Samon Gokuu.

Appearance

0?ui=2&ik=09c8692417&attid=0.2&permmsgid

Meili is an attractive, slim woman of ordinary height. Her rounded breasts are a mid- to large-cup size. She has short black hair and light skin. She also has supple, beautiful skin. When she was younger, her hair was much longer and hung down to her waist. Her eyes are a bright blue color, and the same hue surrounds them. Meili wears a gold chain necklace with a vivid blue pendant. She has a pleasant scent, according to Samon and the majority of the other inmates. Her legs are long and thin, and her thighs are round.

She is dressed in a short black pencil skirt and a dressy white long-sleeved shirt. She wears a brown pantyhose and flat, strapped heels.

Personality

Meili is regarded as a caring and nurturing woman. She is a good listener and is understanding when it comes to her job as a counselor and/or therapist. Many men are drawn to her, primarily because of her appearance, and on occasion, her humble character. Meili is highly devoted to her job, wanting to assist not just any other individual, but every prisoner in Nanba Prison. She is an optimistic woman who sees the good in almost all beings. She believes that all of the prisoners are good people at heart and is determined to assist them in redeeming themselves and coping with any issues they may have. Meili is very motherly to her clients, with a calming, positive attitude and a lovable characteristic. She is even willing to comfort them with hugs. Meili's words can also be used to comfort her clients. She even is protective of the majority of the prisoners she has served as a client. Similarly, when some of the inmates in Building 13 were her clients, Hajime would either scare or react violently whenever he feels they were disrespectful or just plainly aggravating him. Not appreciating his behavior, Meili will either stop Hajime, scold him, or kindly ask him to leave her office.

Meili is a rather shy individual, blushing or reacting timidly on some occasions, especially when being complimented or flirted with. Nonetheless, she would feel appreciated and flattered. It doesn't stop her from feeling slightly uneasy, however. She doesn't give many reactions when being flirted with, and would only reply with a "thank you" and a simple smile. Meili is devoted to her husband and would never allow someone to casually flirt with her.

Meili is brilliant with a keen sense of perspective. She can easily tell how one is feeling by the tone of their voice, even if they attempted to put on an act. Meili is capable of quickly identifying the source of an issue and resolving it, especially as a therapist. She is a driven woman when it comes to her job, and she will go to any length to find and solve her clients' problems. Even if it involves asking personal questions to get to the bottom of things.

Most people believe Meili is quiet, naive, and, in some ways, weak. She, on the other hand, is far from helpless. Samon is even well aware of this. Meili, like Momoko and Kazari, has a lot of strength for a woman and could hurt just about anyone when pushed to the limit. One of the things she despises the most is being disrespected and/or having someone insult her or those she cares about. If such happens, she will cheerfully scold them or physically harm them without thinking.

Background

Meili was born and reared in a city that originated in China, far from the mountains where Samon could be found. She was also born into a wealthy family known as the Wu Clan, which is led by her father. By the age of four, Meili, her older brother, and her sister had been taken by her parents to a tiny town among the mountains to properly train in martial arts, a town where Meili's grandmother lived. Despite her love for her sister, Meili became envious of her. Her sister, Huang, she felt, was more talented than her in education, singing, dancing, cooking, and even martial arts. Her father seemed to favor her even more, which made Meili feel even worse and pushed her to grow further apart from them. Meili's mother and grandmother saw her insecurities and offered her words of support to make her feel better. Meili's brother, Ling, was the next to support her, telling her she didn't need their father's approval or to become better than Huang.

Meili was fascinated in martial arts and admired Ling, knowing that he was more stronger and a better martial arts adept than their father. Meili approached him and requested him to train her. Ling gladly consented, recognizing her admiration for him. He personally trained her from that point forward. Meili had grown strong enough by the age of five to practice qigong and cultivate her ki.

Due to her father's overwhelming lecture, a stressed Meili fled out into the mountains to practice her tai chi and meditate. Meanwhile, while looking for his brother, Samon discovered the girl on her own. He couldn't help but gaze as he was captivated by her tai chi and youthful beauty. Samon, who was distracted, stumbled and fell in between the bushes behind Meili, scaring her. Samon made an uncomfortable introduction.

Meili was first concerned because she had never met a youngster her age, let alone a boy. However, after spending some time talking with him and getting to know his fun side, she quickly warmed up to him. She even developed feelings for him. Ling noticed Meili and her newfound connection with Samon. Samon was taken aback by his appearance, but it reminded him of Enki, who he admired dearly. Samon brought the two to Enki and introduced them to him. However, to to Samon and Meili's surprise, it was discovered that Ling and Enki were already well acquainted because they met in the mountains when they were 14 years old.

Enki and Ling explained to the children that the W and Gokuu clans had been considered rivals for years and would occasionally feud. He and Enki, on the other hand, got along swimmingly and he considered Enki a friend, much to his father's chagrin. Though Ling was more or less an associate of Enki's. Meili liked Samon and was happy to be his buddy; Samon felt the same way. Despite their clans' enmity, the two maintained their bond, and their desire to be as strong as their elder brothers drove them closer together as they played and trained together. While they were training, Samon was taken aback by Meili's strength; he was little envious, but impressed.

Samon introduced Meili to Noriko the day after he met her at some point. Samon told Meili about Noriko's abilities, how powerful they were, and that she shouldn't approach her. Meili, on the other hand, moved closer to Noriko, inquisitive about the strength of her talents. Samon was surprised that she was able to handle it so well. As time passed, Meili assisted Samon in his training to get stronger, and the two formed a deep friendship with Noriko. She considered Meili to be her younger sister and would teach her how to cook. Meili's bond with Samon was witnessed by Huang. She was mostly envious of Noriko's intimate relationship with her. Meili had to leave Samon and Noriko one evening to return home, only to find her father unhappy. Her father had learned of her relationship with a member of the Gokuu clan from Huang and had forbidden her from ever meeting Samon. This enraged Meili, who yelled angrily at Huang and rushed to her room to cry. Ling and her mother consoled her.

Meili's father informed the family that they would have to go to Japan because Ling had applied to college, which grieved Meili because it meant she would be separated from Samon and Noriko. Samon was furious after she snuck out of the house and told him and Noriko the news. Samon clasped Meili's hands in his (making her blush madly) and told her how important he was to her. Meili did the same for Samon as the two hugged; she also hugged Noriko. Samon and Meili made a pinky promise and promised to see each other again when they grew older. Meili went back to her family, sobbing as she bid her goodbyes to Samon and Noriko.

Meili had reached the age of 16 after many years. Her father had arranged for her to marry the son of another wealthy family, much to her chagrin. Meili met the young guy she was to marry when she was 18 years old and began a connection with him. She tried for weeks to build a bond with him and like him, but she couldn't; she didn't want to. She recalled her friendship with Samon and realized she had never stopped having affections for him, despite the fact that they had been separated for many years. Meili battled with her father the next day, protesting the marriage. Meili ran away from home, leaving a note for her family, because she felt it was fruitless to try to reason with her father. Despite her estrangement from her family, Meili maintained touch with them, particularly with her mother, Huang, and Ling. Meili eventually met up with Samon, who was amazed, and the two happily embraced. Samon observed Meili's beauty after getting a good look at her and formed a crush on her. Samon and Meili reconnected and rekindled their friendship. Meili had become a well-educated young woman during her years in China, graduating from high school at the age of 18. After spending several years with Meili, Samon had truly grown in love with her. The two revealed their affections and became a couple.

Meili applied for a college in China and studied psychology and sociology, as she was interested in becoming a therapist/counselor. After four years, Meili and Samon had gotten married. Meili had started her job working as a professional therapist. For a while, Meili began to notice Samon seeking attention from Enki and spending more time in his office at the Shisen Prison, which concerned her. After the Shisen prison was shut down, Meili went with Samon and Enki to work in Nanba Prison as both a prison therapist and counselor. Despite her determination, Meili felt nervous, as she never had to counsel a prisoner before. She expected it to be difficult, but Samon reassured her and told her that this guy is a peaceful young man. The inmate came to Meili's office for therapy and he told Meili about his horrible past and suicide attempt. Meili stretched out and embraced the inmate, consoling him with the soft warmth of her body. She informed him that she was there to assist and care for him. The offender rapidly warmed up to Meili and formed a close relationship with her. When their session was through, the inmate asked Meili if he may see her again, which she gladly agreed to. From then on, the inmate paid Meili a weekly visit.

Because of what the other guards said about Samon and Enki, Meili began to detect Samon's inferiority issue, which troubled her even more. He discussed the situation with Meili since he was unsure of himself. Meili told Samon not to worry about what other people think of him or how different he is from Enki, and that it's okay to be different since your differences are what make you who you are; Samon felt better after hearing that from her.

There was an incident with Enki one day; he was caught in the act of murdering one of his captives, one of whom happened to be Meili's first patient. Meili was horrified and heartbroken after hearing this. Following the event and Samon's promotion to supervisor in his building, Meili overheard everyone in Nanba commenting on how similar Samon was to Enki and how he would betray the jail in the same way Enki had, which enraged Meili.

Relationships

  • Love Interest

Samon Gokuu

Meili is Samon's wife. Samon is madly in love with Meili, and he loves her more than anything or anybody else. Meili feels the same way about Samon, and she despises being separated from him. Samon would visit Meili in her office whenever he had time off from work to spend time with her. When they were alone, Samon would often hug Meili and plant kisses on her as a means of expressing his love for her. These private moments can become a touch too intimate at times. However, in public, in front of other guards or supervisors, they would maintain a professional demeanor. Still, they would at least stay close to each other or possibly hold hands. Seeing Meili with a smile on her face always seemed to light up Samon's mood. He would always comfort her by holding her and never letting go anytime she is sad. In his office, Samon has 2-3 pictures of Meili somewhere around his desk. Anytime Samon is angered or cranky, Meili is one of the only few people that can calm him down.

Both Meili and Samon met as children and became good friends. Meili at some point in time developed a crush on Samon and was often shy around him. In their teen years, Samon developed a crush on Meili, and his crush turned into pure love. The two started their relationship together and eventually got married. Samon and Meili share a deep attachment and feel connected.

Samon is extremely overprotective of Meili. Anytime he could, he would call to check on her and see how she's doing, even when she's in the middle of trying to help a client. Samon would easily get jealous if a man were to be at least several inches away from Meili, if a man were to look at Meili in any way, sometimes even if someone were to talk to Meili. In defense of Samon, he only acts this way towards someone he doesn't fully trust with his wife. Considering his dislike towards Hajime, Samon would especially be upset if Hajime would go anywhere near Meili, even if he was only trying to talk to her about his inmates. One time, on Meili's first day of the job, she was introduced to Mitsuru. Mitsuru flirted with Meili and was close to putting his arm around her waist until Samon struck him and demanded he stay away from her. Mitsuru playfully responded that he was only kidding.

Samon can be overly protective at times, to the point of becoming possessive of Meili, which irritates her to no end. Meili can see why Samon is protective of her. It's because Meili is Samon's first love, and he doesn't want to lose her, especially to another man. Samon's protectiveness demonstrates how much he feels about Meili, which is one of the reasons she loves him, but she still expects him to have more faith in her. Samon is insecure about his connection with Meili and believes he does not deserve her, believing she is too good for him.

Meili believes in Samon and has great trust in him. Unlike most other guards in Nanba Prison, Meili would never compare Samon to his brother, Enki. She doesn't consider Samon to be weak or a coward, let alone a traitor. She would especially never consider him to be a monster like his older brother. She believes that Samon is his own person and is a great and considerate human being with a kind heart. That being one of the many reasons why Samon loves her.

  • Guards

Momoko Hyakushiki

Meili sometimes works as the Warden's assistant when she gets the chance. As a co-worker, Meili shows her hard work and loyalty to the Warden. Unlike the other guards, supervisors, or the other employees, Meili isn't as frightened by Momoko. Although, she recognizes how intimidating her aura is.

Momoko and Meili treat each other as friends other than just a co-worker and boss. Like Mitsuru, Meili is aware of Momoko's crush on Hajime. Momoko is close with Meili enough to show how she would act anytime Hajime isn't around. Meili finds it funny how nowadays Momoko could act so serious and scary, yet at the same time flustered and cute. It's especially funny to Meili how even when Momoko would keep a nice look on her face and still look scary. Meili would mainly let Samon know that Momoko isn't as scary as she seems to be, but it isn't her place to reveal anything like that. Momoko would often seek Meili for advice on getting Hajime's attention since she is married.

Kiji Mitsuba

Kiji finds Meili to be a very pretty woman and is very friendly with her. He would often have conversations with her. Kiji would sometimes convince her to wear more make-up and she'll look even more beautiful, though Meili always tries to tell him that the eyeliner and lip gloss she has on is enough. Kiji finds it cute how much Meili and Samon love each other and would have frequent conversations with her about it.

Hajime Sugoroku

Hajime and Meili have a pretty average co-worker relationship. Hajime seems to respect her well-being and thinks she is very good at her job. Meili appears to respect Hajime as well and is friendly towards him like with the rest of the guards in Nanba Prison. Although she has respect for him, she does not agree with the violence he shows towards his inmates. During the New Years Tournament, after Hajime brutally beat Jyugo to near death, Meili was extremely upset with Hajime. She even marched up to him in the smoking-room sometime after the tournament and angrily berated him for his brutal actions towards one of his inmates along with the other guards. The way Hajime beat up Jyugo reminded her of when Enki killed one of his inmates before being apprehended, which left her distraught.

  • Inmates

Jyugo

Meili first met Jyugo after Hajime brought Nico to her office for an appointment. Jyugo, along with Uno and Rock followed Hajime and Nico to the counselor's office mainly to support Nico without Hajime's permission. Like most other males, Jyugo found Meili to be a very pretty woman and respected her. Meili is very nice and caring to Jyugo. She seems to be interested in the young man and finds him peculiar. During the New Years Tournament, while horrified, Meili was rather intrigued and curious about Jyugo's sudden rampage. She also wondered his real reason for escaping his cell so many times, doubting that it's considered a hobby.

Nico

Meili has had Nico as a client a few times before Jyugo. Nico adores Meili and thinks she's very pretty and nice. Nico sees Meili as a mother he never had and adores her. He likes to lay his head on her lap when he sleeps and enjoys her scent. Meili considered Nico to be an innocent and adorable young man. Knowing that he was once cruelly experimented on and has a brutal personality somewhere inside him when his medicine wears off, Meili couldn't help but pity Nico. As a therapist, Meili would do whatever she can to help him.

Uno

Meili met Uno after he followed Hajime and Nico to her office with Rock and Jyugo. He felt attracted to Meili and openly tried to flirt with her. Meili was somewhat flattered with Uno's compliments, but she turned down his advances considering her marriage and love for her husband, much to Uno's disappointment. Not much else is said of their encounters, but Uno would constantly flirt with Meili anytime he sees her, at least most of the time whenever Samon isn't around.

Rock

Like with Jyugo and Uno, Rock met Meili when he went with them to follow Hajime and Nico to her office. Rock is very respectful to Meili. Meili has had Rock a few times as her client, counseling him with his grudges and anger. Like with other prisoners, Meili shows great care towards Rock. Rock admires Meili for her skills in cooking, and would always ask for a cookie from her cookie jar in her office.

Liang

Meili was introduced to Liang along with some other inmates in Building 5. While he tried being polite, Liang was nervous as he greeted Meili, considering his lack of interaction with females growing up. Due to her attractive features, Liang would blush uncontrollably and stutter when speaking to her, which amuses Meili. Knowing that she was Samon's wife, he is very respectful of the lovely woman. Like most women, Liang initially considered Meili to be essentially weak. However, he was unfortunately mistaken when he was told by Samon she was talented in wushu and has great strength for a woman; he was surprised, to say the least. After sparring with her, as well as being defeated, Liang began to view Meili differently as a female and admired her. While Meili didn't appreciate how Liang viewed women the first time meeting her, she was understanding of the reason, given his past. She is as kind to him as the other inmates she encounters.

Upa

Meili was introduced to Upa by Samon like with Liang and some other inmates in Building 5. Upa respects Meili as a kind talented individual and as Samon's wife. He seems to be interested in her skills in martial arts and Tai Chi, and commends her for it, even without showing much emotion.

Qi

Not much is known of their interactions, but Qi is very respectful of Meili and finds her to be pretty attractive. Meili is as kind to Qi as most other inmates. She is never at all thrilled to know that Upa and Liang (and a lot of other inmates) look down upon him.

  • Others

Noriko Sanzou

Meili met Noriko as a child along with Samon. Like Samon, Meili sees Noriko as an older sister and refers to her as "Sister Noriko" or "Big Sis". Noriko and Meili have a great bond and treat each other with care. Meili would always look to Noriko for advice. Noriko was always motherly towards Meili.

Enki Gokuu

Meili met Enki as a child when Samon introduced her. Meili respected Enki as Samon's older brother. She always admired Enki for his martial arts skills and strength. Unfortunately, Meili's admiration for Enki turned into disgust after finding out about him murdering one of his inmates. After hearing about his murder and who had committed it, she was distraught. Though she was left devastated and disappointed, Meili just simply couldn't believe Enki would commit such a crime. She felt that there had to be a misunderstanding.

Inori Hakkai

At the first meeting, Inori was attracted to Meili, despite knowing that she is married to Samon. Before finding out about Inori's betrayal towards Nanba, Meili treated Inori with respect like she does with the other guards. Meili is aware of Inori's attraction and efforts of flirting with her and attempts to avoid him because of it. Anytime Meili is around where he can see her, he would continuously stare at her breast, much to Samon's anger.

Mao Nimaijita

Meili was told by Samon about Mao and his behavior. Mao met Meili at one point in time when a few of his inmates were sent to her office for counseling. Mao felt attracted to Meili and would playfully flirt with her. After introducing himself, Meili recognized Mao and remembered how he would always mock Samon and antagonize him. After Meili revealed that she was married to Samon, Mao was surprised. Meili despises Mao for disrespecting her husband. She began to despise him more for ridiculing Samon and accusing him of being a traitor. This never stops Mao from flirting and teasing Meili, which irritates her.

Skills & Abilities

Despite her seemingly innocent and womanly nature, Meili is incredibly strong and skilled in martial arts; such as Kung-fu and Tai Chi, having been taught by Ling and her grandmother since she was 4. She has great speed and can react against incoming attacks, sensing one's movements before one has a chance to act on them. Meili possesses inhuman flexibilities and is skilled in acrobatics, as well as gymnastics.

Strength

Although she has an average feminine build, Meili has great strength. She is as strong as Samon. She had been training ever since she was a child and her strength, along with her other physical abilities, had increased since then. She can cause heavy damage when attacking an opponent. Most of her strength mainly comes from her waist down.

Qigong

Meili was able to use qigong at age 5 before Samon, mastering it to the point of gaining Ki and managing her own against Noriko's ability. She, along with Samon, was taught all of the qigong techniques by Noriko and Enki. Much like Samon, Meili can be able to sense the presence of others and recognizes the good or bad in them based on their ki.

Martial Arts

As said above, Meili is very talented in martial arts and was taught at a very young age by Ling and her grandmother. When in combat, she would mostly use her legs and feet since most of her strength comes from the waist down. Meili is more proficient when using her acrobatic and gymnastic skills, having taken down plenty of Jiang Shi dolls along with Kiji using those talents.

Quotes

  • (To Nico) "You are too sweet!"

  • (To Samon) "What the other Supersivers think about you shouldn't matter. You're nowhere near cold or evil like the others think you are and you know it. You're warm and you have a good heart. Your inmates as well as the other guards know that. And you know very well that I know that. It's one of the many reasons why I love you."

  •  (To Hajime) "If you're going to act violent towards inmates, then you can do so while you're not in my presence or my office."

  • (To Kiji about Samon) "Samon is arrogant, short-tempered, and more or less childish in a way. He can be stubborn and would always refuse to accept help from others, finding it insulting. It gets bad to the point where he sometimes refuses to accept my help and he'd always do everything on his own. It's almost irritating, but I worry so much about him because of it. He can be so oblivious to his pride and it can get the better of him too. I just hope that he comes to realize his flaws and become more mature."

  • (To Samon) "Don't you ever think like that! You're always so good to me and you treat me like any good husband. There is no need for you to feel insecure. Besides, I'm not perfect either. We both have flaws."

  • (To Hajime) "You are such a brute! This is exactly what I was talking about! I can't believe you would have the nerve to beat your inmate to near-death like that! Don't you have any shame!?"
