"As long as I got music and my honeybear, life is but a dream!"

-Dia

Nadia Wood, known as her nickname Dia, is a flapper that performs at her husband Spades' casino. She is one of the supporting characters in Hazbin Hotel.

Dia was a popular flapper all over New York City until her wrongful death in the late 1920s. Since then, she has sustained her flapper identity and became popular all throughout Hell.

Backstory

Dia was born in 1889 in Las Vegas, NV. From a young age, she was a born singer and dancer. Her parents were eager to pay for classes so she could professionally improve her abilities. Up until she graduated high school at the age of 18, she had taken singing and dancing lessons. Money had been tight at the time, but her parents scrounged up enough money to get her into college. She majored in music, continuing to perfect her singing skills.

After graduating, she focused on saving up to move to her dream city: New York. To start, she managed to get gigs at local lounges and clubs. Her financial success with a few shows a week--if she was lucky--wasn't nearly enough to keep her afloat, though. She was able to get a job as a waitress at a diner, but made money through more discreet means as well. One or two nights a week, she'd try her hand at prostitution. It was her biggest source of income, helping her get enough money to finally move.

At the age of 25, she moved to Brooklyn. The city had a multitude of opportunities for her as a singer, just as she'd dreamed. She hopped around the boroughs of New York, performing wherever she could. She still relied on the income prostitution supplied her, just until she was able to get a steady job as a singer.

In the mid 1910s, Dia met a man named Vinny, who was interested in her talent. He owned a nightclub in Brooklyn, and offered her a job there to perform 3 days a week. He would pay well, more than she had ever expected. She was quick to accept his offer. Her salary allowed her to get a nice apartment, and she always had spare money to send back home to her parents.

When the Roaring Twenties rolled around, she eagerly adopted the flapper style. She gained popularity the longer she worked for Vinny, even getting a couple record deals. Eventually, Vinny introduced her to his good friend, and her future husband, Spades. It was love at first sight for Dia. After only a few dates, they began officially dating. It wasn't until a couple months into the relationship that he confessed to her that he was in the mafia. She felt that, normally, she would have minded. Spades, on the other hand, was different. She was so hopelessly in love with him that she didn't care.

As her relationship with Spades grew deeper, she began working for him at his casino instead of Vinny's club. She performed as a showgirl, but still in her iconic flapper attire. For the next 5 years, she simply enjoyed life as a flapper and as Spades' beloved.

That was until August of 1927, when Spades took Dia out on a special date. Unbeknownst to her, he was going to propose. Also unbeknownst to her (and Spades too) was the fact that someone had put a hit on Spades. A bomb underneath their car was detonated on the way to dinner, and they were sent to Hell together.

Spades was able to find out it was Vinny who did it, all because Spades unknowingly killed a made man without getting permission first. Both Spades and Dia wanted revenge on the man they had both trusted. Spades hired I.M.P to kill Vinny, bringing him down to Hell with them. Together, the couple tortured him before killing him with an Exorcist weapon. Dia had never been a violent person, but the fact that Vinny had killed her honeybear was more than enough to send her over the edge.

With their deaths avenged, Dia started performing again at a variety of spots in Hell before Spades bought another casino. She worked for him again, helping his casino rise to fame with her beauty and alluring voice. By the time Spades achieved his dream goal of becoming a crime gross, he proposed to her. They were married shortly after, her dream goal.

Dia and her husband Spades live comfortably in Hell, possessing great power, wealth, and their undying love for each other.

Appearance

Dia is 5'2 and has a curvy body type. She has magenta skin, black lipstick, and fangs. A beauty mark is to the lower left of her mouth. She has curved horns and a tail with a heart-shaped tip, both with black gradients at the ends. She also has black wings, the outermost bones being noticeably longer than the others. Her hair is powder pink and styled in elegant waves and curls. She has long black eyelashes, pale yellow sclera, red irises, and black slits for pupils.

She always wears flapper attire. Her favorite outfit is a dark purple dress decorated with rhinestones and black fringe at the hem, paired with fishnets, black heels, deep purple evening gloves, and a pearl necklace.

Personality

Dia is fun-loving and adventurous. She's always willing to take a risk, even if it might get her into trouble. She has a heart of gold, believing in people even when they don't deserve it.

She never resorts to violence, unless her husband is threatened or hurt. Otherwise, she is peaceful and encourages settling matters through words.
