Jethrope grew up with his single father, having been told his mother died in childbirth. He was given vigorous lessons to prepare him for becoming king when he was older, but all the while he was sheltered from the disarray the kingdom of Jerarix was in. When he was 25, his father died of old age and he was coronated as king. However his blindness of his kingdom's poverty continued as his counselors took most of the duty of running the kingdom for him while he continued to party. However, after his 27th birthday he decided to take on more responsibility as king and run the country of his own morals and beliefs. Despite this, his counselors were still able to keep him blinded to the poverty by advising him not to take certain visitors and only to visit certain cities. A few years later, his life was very publicly threatened, leading him to put precautions and preperations in place to keep himself and his family safe. Through this he met some of the citizens his counselors had previously advised him not to converse with. Speaking with them opened his eyes to the state of his kingdom, therefore prompting him to change his staff and ways of running the country.
