Personality

More social than many other esks; she spends lots of time in the conservatory visiting. She uses quite a bit of telepathy to communicate, because her favorite thing is jokes and puns. Always happy and energetic, her eyes are usually squinted in silent laughter. She is also a big, snuggly, protective mom friend.

Quick History

Before her transformation, Cairo was a bear who wandered too deep into a dry part of the shrublands near her home during a drought. As she searched for water, she found what she thought to be a sick lizard (it was actually a small esk, wandered too far from its boundary), and tried to also help it find its way to water. She first made sure the 'lizard' drank, and before she got her chance she fell asleep, exhausted from malnutrition and dehydration. As she slept, the little esk transformed her. She awoke as an esk, her memories blurry and her perspective changed. Her small feet and beautiful cacti seemed so normal to her... She decided that rescuing that little 'lizard' showed her her true calling, to help and protect those who were lost.

Esk beliefs

Cairo firmly believes she has always been Esk. She considers herself a guardian and friend to all living creatures as well as esk who feel lost, particularly new esk. While she knows the origin of most esk is transformation, she believes there are some esk that simply had 'always been', and she is one of them. Despite proof against it, and the gentle explanations of her friends, she continues to smile and brush off the idea that she wasn't always esk. "It doesn't matter now anyway, right?"
